A couple people have pointed out that there’s now a new Miiverse community called “Onett Times” that’s supposed to be like a developer’s room. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1...Read More »

The other day, Nintendo asked EarthBound fans to stop by at SDCC and record their thoughts about EarthBound and its recent re-release. The resulting video was posted yesterday here: I have to say, it’s been pretty cool how much attention Nintendo has given a Virtual Console game, much more than I expected! I hope it’s doing well enough that the execs don’t say, “Well, that...Read More »

It sounds like EarthBound is selling well on the Wii U Virtual Console! Exact numbers aren’t given so it’s hard to say anything for sure, but it’s ranked #2 for “recent best sellers”, only being beaten by Donkey Kong: I’m guessing the fact that Donkey Kong costs 30 cents compared to EarthBound’s $10 price tag has a lot to do with it being #1 😛 It also ...Read More »

For those who don’t have a Wii U, I thought it might be nice sharing some pics of EarthBound stuff on the Wii U system, like how it’s presented, advertised, stuff like that. I actually don’t have a North American Wii U of my own, so these pics come courtesy of good ol’ KingDarian! #gallery-3 { margin: auto; } #gallery-3 .gallery-item { float: left; ...Read More »

EarthBound for the Wii U Virtual Console was released out of the blue the other day, but that wasn’t the only surprise! The game, which was originally rated “K-A” (Kids to Adults) back in the old days, was rated as “E for Everyone” back in 2007 before the Wii VC version was canceled. But this recent release for the Wii U has it rated as “T for Teens”, whic...Read More »

At last, EarthBound’s re-release is here! If you have a Wii U, you can get a copy of EarthBound for the Wii U Virtual Console for $9.99. You can see the official page on Nintendo’s site here. And here’s a pretty cool promo video for it! And here’s the official site for it, which looks pretty nifty! They’ve also included a digital version of the Player’s Guide...Read More »

Back when the Starmen.net/Fangamer guys and I did the live Wii U MOTHER 2 stream, we noticed that some bright, flashy animations were “fuzzier” on the Wii U version than in the original Super Famicom/Super NES releases. I’ve recorded a couple samples for comparison – it’s hard to see in this video but maybe you can tell: Only a few of the PSI animations have this ani...Read More »

News about the whole EarthBound available for preorder on Amazon UK thing spread across gaming sites like crazy yesterday for some reason, and this prompted good ol’ Mitch to make a new comic! You can check out some of Mitch’s past EarthBound comics here and check out his other stuff here! ...Read More »

I sometimes wondered if different versions of MOTHER 2 might play faster or slower than other versions – and then I stumbled upon this Japanese video that compares the walking speed of the GBA MOTHER 2 and the Wii U Virtual Console MOTHER 2. (GBA on top, Wii U on bottom) As you can see, the GBA version has slower walking. I don’t know if that’s because the Wii U’s Super Fam...Read More »

It looks like EarthBound was recently rated by Australia’s rating board as seen here. It’s rated “M”, which means it’s “suggested for mature audiences“. The site describes the “M” rating as follows: “Films and computer games classified M (Mature) contain content of a moderate impact and are recommended for teenagers aged 15 years and ove...Read More »
