Some recent videos of Super Mario Maker have finally revealed what Ness looks like in the game, and what some of his related stuff sounds like! Here’s a peek:
In case the video goes down, here’s a still image:
And here’s a close-up of Ness:
I was already excited to play this game when it was just a basic Super Mario Bros. level designer, but now things have taken a whole new turn!

Ness is great, but I still don’t understand why we can’t have an 8-bit sprite of Sonic. It’s not like there isn’t an existing one from the Game Gear/Master System versions.
I’m pretty sure that everyone who got review copies were only meant to show amiibo that were in previous Nintendo trailers…
Too bad it did not show his taunt, but it most likely will be “OK” or “Fuzzy Pickles”.
So how do you like my YouTube channel?

I’m happy with the sounds from EarthBound with Ness amiibo for Mario Maker. I imagine how Ninten would be, ’cause he’s a 8-bit character after all, all are 8-bit, except Sonic hehehe.
It’s nice that Ness actually gets his sound effects but how come Pokemon Doesn’t? I’m greatly disappointed…
In response to my previous comment, I just learned that you can unlock the option to make custom sound effects. So it’s entirely possible to make Ness say “Okay” whenever he does something.

Guys…you know what this means?
There are going to be sprites for him in the style of Mario 3, Super Mario World, etc. too! :O
Nah, there aren’t. The Amiibos/costumes are only in the style original Mario Bros.
Even though we already knew his amiibo was compatible, it’s still pretty exciting to actually see what Ness looks like in-game. I’m pleasantly surprised that he got entirely new sprites, considering Link didn’t.
