I thought I’d share this little April Fool’s joke that a Japanese MOTHER fan made:
Nintendo Officially Announces MOTHER 4
It’s about time!
They said they were gonna stop at 3, but they’re gonna make a sequel anyway?
I assume the story takes place much earlier than 3, since the world’s been destroyed and all by then.
It looks like the Kraken’s in it again…
I wonder if it’ll be set in the same world as 2.
It’s supposed to come out January next year. Man, I can’t wait
The screenshots say, “Kururi: Forget about that loser and let’s hit the arcade!” and “The Kraken attacked!”
If you scroll way to the bottom of the Japanese post, it also says this:
Just kidding! I drew these pics in Paint
Do I’m not even sure the 3DS has games with graphics this crappy… Of course not!
Anyway, fake screenshots and all that are pretty common fare these days, and even though it’s so obvious that this isn’t a MOTHER game, I wonder if it fooled anyone in Japan for a moment 😛

Making a game on any system nowadays that’s completely comprised of sprite art and releasing it as a fully priced retail game is like shooting yourself in the foot. You might have been able to do it one generation ago, but now you have to at least use SOME 3D models. Of course, you can still largely use sprites in your game and still have it look nice (Fire Emblem: Awakening, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team), but full on sprite graphics just won’t cut it. Even if Itoi did make Mother 4 and didn’t decide to use any 3D models at all for some reason, I’d except the graphics to be at a bit higher quality.

@GrapeEscape – Yeah, Awakening has real nice graphics. How do they use all three styles they do?! …Actually, was it four? I can’t remember…
Anyway, while ON topic, I like this one, it’s somewhat convincing if you didn’t know for sure how few stuff there’d be.

I don’t think the world blew up in Mother 3. Why do people say that? Everyone ended up fine. Mother trilogy collection is what we want for both 3DS and Wii U anyway, am I right?
