The other day I posted about the EarthBound Baaaash, a big event in about two weeks that will definitely be a lot of fun for EarthBound fans.
Little by little, the Fangamer guys have been revealing guests and other stuff that’s going to be happening at the event. Here are some of the recent reveals:
Me!
It was probably pretty obvious that I was gonna take part in the EB Baaaash, so I got revealed first 😛 With all the million EarthBound projects I’ve done, I might be able to offer some interesting tidbits of info, or at least I can answer some questions for viewers!
(I’m mostly going for the free food but don’t tell them that)
Chewy!
Chewy works with the Fangamer guys on a regular basis, so she’ll be at the EB Baaaash too!
If you’ve ever read any translated Itoi interviews before, she was most likely the translator. She also helped out a bit with the MOTHER 3 translation. She also translated the MOTHER 2 novel, and who knows, maybe she’ll read excerpts from it during the event! She also works for Itoi’s company, Hobonichi, and always has plenty of interesting stories to share…
But beware! She’s always inundated by requests to say this and this to Itoi or get Itoi to do this or this, so don’t annoy her too much or she’ll turn into a she-devil ala THERE IS NO DANA ONLY ZUUL
I’m also secretly hoping that if this EB Baaaash does well enough, maybe next year we can have a MOTHER 3 Baaaash and then get Jeffman down here too. And then we can talk about fluffy omelets.
Anyway, moving on!
Your art!
Fangamer wants you to draw new art! They’ll share it during the event and talk about it and kiss it. If you make fan art, send it to events@fangamer.com… or snail mail it to Fangamer here!
EarthBound Baaaash!!
c/o Fangamer
4500 E Speedway Blvd
Suite 33
Tucson, AZ 85712
You can also send letters, postcards, or packages of stuff if you want! I hear they really need a new vacuum cleaner and they’ve been really good kids this year. Or cleaning supplies. Or Hostess fruit pies. Mmm I’ll just take those for myself
More coming!
There are actually a lot more guests in store, as well as more fun stuff and some eye-poppingly awesome stuff that’s going to happen during the Baaaash. So keep an eye out on the official site here as more things get revealed!
A question I’ve been getting
A few people have asked me if they can attend the Baaaash in person too – I’m actually not in charge of it at all, so you’d need to ask the Fangamer guys. From what I hear, there’s already going to be so many people that the logistics are on the verge of turning insane.
That said, I’ve been pitching the idea of a genuine EarthBound convention here for a while now, so maybe in the future there might be an actual convention… except I’m not really sure what such a thing would entail, since I’ve been to only like one tiny anime convention in my life. But if anyone has ideas or suggestions, let me know!

I don’t find this event as awesome as it seems (so I won’t track it)… A convention would be more amazing.
However, since I know the convention would take place in the US, I won’t go either: travelling to the US is too expensive for somebody who doesn’t even live in America. 🙁 (I live in Spain, EUROPE)
If I ever manage to get lots of money (I doubt it, but who knows XD) I’ll hold an EB convention by myself, but in Europe. *laughs evilishly out of European pride*

I’m really excited for this event. I hope it winds up like the Mother 3 one you had at your house with the live miiverse fun and stuff .Maybe we’ll finally get to see you play a little Taheshi’s Challenge (haha just kidding … or not)
As far as an earthbound convention goes. I could think of plenty of things. It would obviously be small but you could have a cosplay contest, showcase special items related to the series (a la a museum with things like the airfreshner, itoi’s drawings, and such on display), you can have fangamer merch for sale along with artist who could sell some of their own art or creations (art prints, comics, paintings, whatevs .. just eb related) Maybe some live entertainment. I’m sure you could find a band or two to play some sets full of eb covers. You could probably screen some of those eb saga movies or similar fan films. Host a Q&A with you, reid, lindsay, and other various eb related peeps. These are just a couple of ideas. I would totally attend one. And as far as a location for the convention, it only makes since to host it in Paula Polestar’s hometown of Tucson.
An Earthbound/Mother convention would be a dream come true! No expensive plane flights!
We all knew you’d be there Mato. WE KNOW EVERYTHING. 😛
A Mother convention would be great! It would be a awesome chance for the fans to meet up with each other! Problem is, however, where it would be hosted. If it were in America, most of the non-US fans wouldn’t have much of a chance of attending, unless there could a be worldwide celebration, in sync with each other’s times (kinda like how the BBC is broadcasting the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary).
And I would take you up on that offer, Chivi-chivik.
Blehhh I can’t say anything that hasn’t already been said…
Ahwell, as long as it ain’t in the far west cost, I would go.

@Lotus_Blue Great! 😉 *keeps laughing evilishly out of European pride*
I can’t WAIT!!!!
BTW- how do we get a hold of Chewy’s novel translation… don’t know where to buy a copy (or is it still in progress??)

The novel isn’t available anywhere right now because it still needs editing and she still needs to go through the multi-tiered Japanese bureaucracy for an official release.
I didn’t know she was still pushing for an official release! That’s so cool!

Yeah, there’s an official novel for MOTHER 1 and MOTHER 2.
Here’s some more info on MOTHER 2’s novel: http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/11/mother-2-novel-chapter-1-2/
Can’t wait for the novel! Do you know if she is putting any of the fan art in?
Also, in my last post, I meant to say “An Earthbound/Mother convention IN EUROPE would be a dream come true! No expensive plane flights!” Oops.

As it stands, putting fanart in an official publication would likely be a no-go (I’d try, though). Releasing it like secret ninjas, however…
Honestly the only place(s) that come to mind when thinking of holding an EarthBound convention are Tucson, Arizona, and Los Angeles, California. Those would be my suggestions, though I fear it presents a huge trek for midwestern, southern, and east coast fans which no doubt probably make up a very large portion of the fanbase. Another option is to create a tally of votes for locations. Locations would be suggested and then fans could vote on the best location, and the one with the most would be the location.
On a side note it would also be super interesting for every EarthBounder out there to state where they reside so we can actually see where in the country our EarthBound fans are. Might make the convention location hunt a bit easier as well.
