Are You Hunting for MOTHER 2 Straps in Japan?

Back when MOTHER 1+2 was released ten years ago, by sheer luck Reid came by to visit me the day my copy of the game arrived. We played it for a bit, chatted about the future of Starmen.Net, and stuff like that. It was a lot of fun, so now that MOTHER 2 is being released again (and since I have a Japanese Wii U), Reid and I are planning another simple get-together, except this time we’ll be streaming it live!
The game is supposed to be available at midnight on the 20th in Japan, which, if my calculations are correct, is 8:00 AM on Tuesday for us Arizona folks. So right now the plan is that we’ll download and play the game starting at 8:00 AM tomorrow. I *think* that equates to 11:00 AM on the east coast and 8:00 AM on the west coast, but let me know if I’m wrong!
Of course, things could go awry – maybe the game won’t be released at the exact time as Nintendo says, or maybe something will come up, or maybe there’ll be technical issues. But if you’re interested, check back here tomorrow morning and see what’s up!
EDIT: Since I’m not the guy in charge of the stream I can’t say for sure where it’s going to be hosted, but I’m fairly certain it’ll just be the regular old Fangamer Twitch.tv channel. I’ll post link info once I know for sure, which will probably be closer to the air time.

Sounds like fun! Too bad I’ll be working .. where do you plan on streaming it? Maybe I’ll burn up my phone battery and watch at work.

I think it might be on the Fangamer Twitch.tv channel. I don’t really know about this stuff, so I’ll post the details as I find them out. Again, it’s such an impromptu thing that it might fall apart at the last second, but I hope not.

I think you got it right. I’m in Los Angeles and we curently have the same time as you guys in Arizona. My folks live in Eastern Standard and they are always 3 hours ahead so 11am would be correct.

When they’re NOT in DST? But that would technically mean that Arizona always has DST ON…that’s a silly way to do things. 😛

A quick check on google shows me that 8AM in Arizona equates to 10AM in Wisconsin were i am. I don’t have to work tomorrow, so i should be able to watch some of this, though an archived version to watch later would still be appreciated. I may miss the beginning of the stream, depending on what time i get up in the morning and whether or not it starts on time.
Also, can we get a quick link to where the stream will likely be posted?

Well, I used a time zone converter to learn that I’m three hours ahead of Phoenix…but that’s because I’m on Eastern Daylight Time and they’re on Mountain STANDARD Time. So basically, Mato correctly accounted for the Standard/Daylight difference in the first place.

I’m definately excited to see something like this happen, and it will be interesting to see everyones live reaction when the game gets to the parts where the changes would be needed.

So let me get this straight… even though you’re in Arizona, you could still download MOTHER 2 because you have a Japanese Wii U? You can download it in arizona? That’s amazing.

I’m pretty sure the Wii U from Japan will connect to the servers from Japan.
Anyway, all of this week has been exciting and fun to watch. The wait continues.

Yeah, luckily it doesn’t matter where you are, it just matters that you have a Japanese Wii U. My main worry was how to get eShop points on there, but luckily I was able to use my American credit card just fine. It’s not always so easy to use American credit cards for Japanese stuff, so that was a big relief.
Arizona doesn’t observe Daylight Savings Time, right? That might mess up your time estimate…
