Tips for Buying EarthBound

January 3rd, 2013 | EarthBound, MOTHER 1, MOTHER 3, Videos

The Gamer from Mars posted a video the other day about EarthBound, the other MOTHER games, and why they’ve had a hard time being released outside of Japan:

Most of this stuff is old info if you’ve been an EarthBound fan for a while, but it’s nice to see people talking about the series and sharing interest in the games like this.

Also, is that my MOTHER 1+2 translation I see being played in there? 😛

It’s nice to see that more fans are now understanding why the games haven’t been and probably never will be released again outside of Japan. Still, I’m very interested in Itoi’s comment!

I don’t know if thegamerfrommars and other reviewers are really fans, but at least they give some much needed attention to the series, and they can understand our fanbase’s frustrations and struggle.

I would really like it if they made a 3-D remake with like voice actors and everything. I’ve always wonderwhat they would sound like. If they did this they’d probably have to re-do all the old music but still as long as everything wasn’t completely different I’m sure it would be freakin awsome.

Even if itoi remakes Mother 1, or the whole series, or just re-release the series we will never get them here in US. Unless someone fan translates it

Ness said on Jan. 3, 2013

I hope it is a full 3d remake, maybe we could get the mother 3 we were suppose to get on the N64DD

GriffinBound said on Jan. 3, 2013

Although a full 3D remake is cool, and I would love to see one… I think that would just take to much time and money to produce, and even then, I kind like the way the game looks already. 🙂

I’m actually against voice actors (they’re annoying), but I wouldn’t mind an updated remake. But how would it be made?

GriffinBound said on Jan. 3, 2013

I’m guessing they would have the original maps, and just start new games from the ground up.
Also maybe remake the music.
If they did remake it, it would take a long time.

And me to… I don’t think I would want voice actors 🙁

As a vice actor, I am saddened by your ability to make a generalized statement about ALL of us… But that aside, I don’t think that character vices would be appropriate for the type of narrative that the game provides.

HpBoost : I’m really sorry of I offended you 🙁 ! I should re-state my comment:

I actually like voice actors in some games, I just don’t see voice actors in the MOTHER Series.

Again I am sorry of my rude comment.

Opinionated Vector Chimera said on Jan. 3, 2013

I think HpBoost was addressing *me*…

But yes: my apologies that my comment offended you.

GriffinBound said on Jan. 3, 2013

Your probably right. it’s just when I looked his response was below my comment. So I just assumed.

But my comment still did affect him, so adleast i’m sorry 🙂

After seeing this video, I’m starting to think about the odds of seeing any kind of Mother/EB game released of Japan.

Hopefully things will work out, but then again we’ve be disappointed before.

GriffinBound said on Jan. 3, 2013

Yeah, but if they do make some sort of compilation of the 3 together, maybe Nintendo of America would finally take action 🙂 !

Do you all have your ice cream?

Anonymous:D said on Jan. 3, 2013

I could not STAND Earthbound without it’s original music. Does anybody else agree?

GriffinBound said on Jan. 3, 2013

I do, I love the music in EarthBound! Well, the entire MOTHER series, if a lot was changed I’d be sad 🙁

god when will he annouce what hes planning
its too intence

I actually don’t want them to remake mother games music, I mean the first Sonic The Hedgehog is on there, and it has very blatant, obvious copy write problems with alot of the music, even more than Earthbound, but it’s still there, so why can’t they just place Earthbound on there. Another question, why can’t Nintendo ask for the translation Tomato made and take out some of the cussing? it would be amazing to see such a wide company be in contact with it’s fans. Furthermore, isn’t there some way of simply asking for the use of a song for a single product, let alone, couldn’t Earthbound itself fit under parody laws? Nintendo doesn’t have any excuses as far as I can see, legal, or technical.

Ness1985 said on Jan. 4, 2013

Yea, if they change the music it won’t BE Earthbound anymore sadly. That’s the problem.

Ness1985 said on Jan. 4, 2013

I believe Nintendo is just scared of their own shadow on this one.

gBev said on Jan. 4, 2013

@Anonymous:D @Ness1985
Would you guys honestly have a problem with them changing three songs in EarthBound’s large soundtrack if it meant getting a western release? It’s not like they’ll be rewriting every song in the game.

PenguinPoppers said on Jan. 4, 2013

Poorly narrated and awkwardly written. That particular Youtuber sounds as if he has a sixth grade reading level.

Mill said on Jan. 6, 2013

I just watched two of his other videos (the Lavender Town one and Sonic R), and wasn’t very impressed by his research of the games or understanding of how glitches happen. He makes a lot of assumptions which in some cases turn out to be false.

HpBoost said on Jan. 7, 2013

My goodness, I wasn’t really offended, just sad. The love and care that this community has regardless… <3
I've never met a single person who loves EarthBound and is mean-spirited. It's truly wonderful.
