EarthBound in Next Smash Bros.?

I’m rooting for either Paula or Kumatora to make it in. There aren’t enough ladies represented in the Nintendo roster.

Ness is one of most original fighters in Super Smash Bros. Nintendo isn’t going to throw away of Smash saga ever.

I don’t expect any new playable mother characters, but Ness and Lucas are probably here to stay.

If they remove Ness or Lucas, someone’s going to die.
But if they go to the other extreme and add the Masked Man I’ll buy 50 copies.

I agree with radiostorm! Paula would be pretty cool, especially considering Ness can’t PK fire or freeze in the actual mother games! It would make more sense in paula! Still don’t mind what character they put in, I think Jeff could be playable or even Picky! BAHA don’t know who to choose! Lets just see next year what happens, I’m expecting some kind of pre-alpha trailer like KIU did in 2010! :7

I want Claus/Masked Man, with their Final Smashes being Porky/Hinawa, respectively, which would transform them.

I think Poo would be a great addition. He has the hand-to-hand combat, PSI, and his smash attacks would have the sword of kings

If Pokey was playable, he would need to have Giygas for his final smash. If not, I wouldn’t bother playing as him.

If they add Flint, Im sold.

HAL Lab was involved with both Smash Bros. and Mother…Well not Mother 3. But still…

I’d like Duster to be in. After all, it would be so fun to have him speeding along the screen with that limp of his. So much kicking!!

Really? Are you seriously thinking that they might nor put them in? Dude, there are MANY veteran characters missing from the mural. It was just a quick sketch produced by the Smash Bros. team to tell the fans that they are working.

If boney was in, he’d be banned for being higher tier than meta knight. But i personally want ninten, instead of having PK thunder as UP B, 4-th d-slip would work, and PK beam could be a attack.

I always felt Claus deserved A spot in the game, and not just A side outfit for Lucas either.

Naw they wouldn’t put someone like duster in… Sorry. Duster is only iconic to those who have played mother 3, so not many Americans will know him. I know Lucas got in, but he is the biggest character. It would be more likely for an EB person to get in since it was released in the US, and paula does sound like a reasonable candidate. What the could also do is, ya know how those little glass… Um… Displays would give an ally when thrown, like a poke ball? Well they could put in someone like dungeon man or mob of sharks as a helper. That sounds most likely to me. Also, give mr Saturn a better use than only being able to be thrown. 😀

I think EarthBound/Mother content in SSB games will never be left out completely, because Ness was one of the original SSB N64 characters, all of which have been in every Smash Bros. game so far.

I personally want to see the Masked Man, Ninten, and Kumatora as playable characters in SSB4. 😀

I’d like to see Duster because his thief tools would prove useful in SSB4. The Masked Man could use his sword for attacking and his cannon (maybe use PK Love for his Final Smash), and Kumatora also needs to be added because:

1. Not much ladies are being represented in the roster.
2. It would make more sense to see her powers being used, considering Lucas can’t even use PK Freeze or PK Starstorm in Mother 3.

All I heard was that they’re finally puting a smash bros on TWO systems! And they BETTER have earthbound in ’em BOTH!!!!!!

I dunno; they might get rid of them both in my opinion. The reason Lucas was in Brawl is because Mother 3 had just come out. Ness was actually supposed to be replaced by Lucas, but they decided to keep him in.

Did you guys know that Namco/Bandai is producing this game? Sakurai may still be heading it, but HAL Labs won’t be involved. Sakurai has said that the roster will stay at 35 playable characters, meaning thatthey’ll need to cut out some previous characters if they want to bring in new ones. And with Namco/Bandai spearheading it, i wouldn’t be surprised to see the Mother franchise go. It’s been 6 years since the series has had a game, and unless they release an HD MOTHER or something for the WiiU to keep the franchise alive (not gonna happen), they might just cut the Mother characters loose.

By that logic, that probably means Captain Falcon doesn’t stand a chance of staying either considering he hasn’t had a game in eight years, despite him being an original. Also, where did you hear that Sakurai is only sticking with thirty-five characters? I may be going crazy here, but I’ve been hearing we’ll have at least fifty, if not more.

Personally, I’m pretty sure Ness will stay, and so will Captain Falcon. They’re both pretty much safe thanks to their original status; and even though Ness was “supposed” to be replaced by Lucas, in the end he wasn’t. Lucas…I’m worried he doesn’t have much of a chance of staying, as much as I would hate that as he is my main. It would be nice for both to stay, and it would be a blessing to have yet another representative to the Mother franchise. I’m hoping for Masked Man since we obviously need more swordsmen, though Ana, Paula, or Kumatora would be nice too. 🙂

If they remove MOTHER characters then i am angry.
But if they replace them for some crappy Sonic character then i never buy game thats from nintendo.

I hope that the Masked Man gets to be in the next Smash, i imagine he would have pretty cool moves since he is half robot now and his FS could be PK Love since Ness and Lucas use PK Starstorm now.

I was playing the Onett stage in SSBM… and… THAT SONG STILL HAUNTS ME! Also, Lucas and Duster on 3DS version, Ness and Jeff on WiiU version. DO IT OR I EAT ALL OF YOUR PSI CARAMELS.

Ness is almost a guarantee in SSB4 now. Wii U has EB on VC now, and because the two versions have the same roster, I feel Ness will return. Lucas is my main, but if he’s out, then oh well. I probably won’t get it if there isn’t a Mother rep.

Come ON people. Be realistic. Think the way smash bros does. Ness will not be removed, Lucas may or may not, although he is not a clone of Ness. Both characters play very differently in brawl, and even though Ness is my main brawl character, I will be very pissed if they remove Lucas.
They won’t add Paula, because technically the only psi move Ness actually knows in the games is psi flash. Psi fire, freeze, and magnet all belong to Paula, so she would be the true clone. And speaking of clone, Ninten and Ness…. I mean, the only big difference between those two are the hats are reversed, and Ninten has a bandana/hankerchief. Why would smash add another character that is not only visually identical to him, but he’d probably play the same or very similar way that Ness and Lucas already do.
Jeff is an Assist Trophy, but you never know if that’ll change later. If anything, Poo would be a great addition, as someone above explained. Pokey doesn’t even know Psi, and since Claus is Lucas’s older twin, they already gave him a cameo as one of Lucas’s color palettes.
Also, don’t forget that the mother series itself is pretty buried, besides the fact that they finally added earthbound on virtual console. Other than that, you guys shouldn’t really expect so much new mother stuff specifically out of super smash bros 4. However, I must say having the fuzzy pickles photographer as an assist trophy would be fun. It could like blind the screen for a second or something, idk.

I would LOVE to see mother represented in brawl! Ness and lucas have slight differences that overall can change their play style very drastically but their PSI makes them a whole different type of class(should this be class based like TF2). A stage from mother one and a character from there too would be enough to make me buy this game. Although making ninten different from ness yet still similar in PSI attributes(play style)would be very hard you can’t remove ness since he was in it from the start and, c’mon, lucas had a hard life… You can’t just kick him out after brawl ;(.
