I prefer recurring tracks that appear throughout the whole series. But, however, for them to be recurring, they have to start, and mostly do at the first.
It’s too hard to decision. I Think that I like earthbound/mother2 the most because it this first mother game that I plat.

I have to give it to EarthBound. The soundtrack was so different from any other game’s when it came out, and it still holds up after all this time.

When you consider all the music, and not just the memorable towns, Mother 3 has the greatest range. Mother 2 fails on battles, even if the towns and setting music can be its own way awesome. Mother’s music is a fun listen from an 8-bit perspective, and that intro to this day makes my spine tingle in all good ways, and certainly set up where the other two games would branch from.
They all do something different, and that’s kinda nice.
Mother 3’s music might actually get my vote probably for overall having the best musical depth or somethingwhatever, but I prefer Earthbound music’s style. So EB here.
I like all three of the game’s soundtracks. So its kinda hard to pick which one has the best music. I’ll either go for Mother 1 because some of the songs are catchy and is easy to remember or Mother 2/Earthbound, I like some of the songs (and some of the Beatles’s songs are referenced in some of the songs).
Mother 3 has the best OST in my opinion. Earthbound has a great OST, though most of the tunes were stuck to 2-3 different themes. Mother 3 has an OST that reaches to much more different and better themes for the music.
I have to say that I like them all, but Mother’s soundtrack has certain songs that are just so beautiful…
This^
I voted for Mother 3. Mother 3 has a lot more catchy tunes and music overall, but I love Mother 2’s music as well. In the long run, they are both tied in my book.

Mother 2/EarthBound for me. That reggae/dub music is so rad! ..and all the electronic pop sounding stuff ..and the sampling was years ahead of it’s time!
Mother 3 without a doubt. Earthbound/Mother 2 has some great experimental pieces and the Eight Melodies are a great listen. BUT
Mother 3 has an OST that builds up like an opera piece. The themes carried throughout and the way these themes evolve around the story is absolutely amazing. I feel that the M3 OST captures the heavy emotions laid out by the story better than the somewhat light-hearted tone of the other Mother OST.
I bought the Mother 3i and Mother3+ albums off iTunes when they were still available. If you have listened to them, please do. They are not simply OSTs. If you have played Mother 3, Mother 3i literally feels like an opera, its music carries you through the entirety of the story, and there are certain moments that give me tingles. It is also re-arranged and re-recorded so that you’re not hearing the GBA takes, but a much higher quality audio and software instruments.
The fact that the Mother 3 battles have so many songs and each song has a beat you can battle to is also amazing.
Mother 3. Although my name says a song from Mother 2(my favorite from the game, to be exact), Mother 3 has a MUCH better soundtrack. Porky’s Pokies, Red Green Yellow Yellow, and Natural Killer Cyborg are only some of the great songs in that game.
Other than the nostalgia from Mother 2, I think Mother 3 has the best music hands down.
Mother 1 had a nice opening and ending song. It also was pretty good for 8-bit music, never having me to rip my ears off in agony. Well, except for the zoo, but that’s on purpose!
Mother 2 also had nice and memorable music I still hum to everyday and the soundtrack just fits the mood of the area your in perfectly. Onett was happy and adventurous, Threed very creepy, Winters majestic and peaceful, Alien bases intimidating, etc. Just an average soundtrack made better with gameplay.
They just can’t beat Mother 3 though. Mother 3 was practically built on it’s music, with its reoccurring themes, beat battles, and touching compositions. You can listen and say, that’s X’s theme song or that’s part of Y. The only thing it lacked was sound quality, which was completely the Game Boy hardware limitations fault.
I voted for Mother 2’s music because I think it’s more iconic and I generally like the music itself better. When I watch covers/performances of songs on youtube it’s either Mother 2 or 1.
But Mother 3’s music fit the game really well and really added a lot to it. I don’t think Mother 3 would have been as good if Suzuki and Tanaka had done the music.
Most of Earthbound’s most iconic songs are just carry-overs from Mother 1. Besides those and it’s battle music, it’s just good not great music wise.
Mother 3 has the opposite problem. It’s battle themes are all decent, but besides a few there is nothing TOO good. However the rest of the soundtrack is just fantastic.

Mother 2, hands down. I do enjoy Mother 3’s music a lot, with the exception of the battle music. I just cannot get into it at all.
Mother 3 has the greatest soundtrack I’ve ever heard in a video game. I absolutely adore it!
I quite enjoy MOTHER 3’s music. I especially like the Tazmilly Village theme at the end of the game.

Hmmm for me it’s a close call between the first and second games. Mother earns a perfect score IMO in the music department in that it could not be better, but I feel that Earthbound might improve on it by having even more songs in the same style.
Oh man, this is a tough one. I think Earthbound’s music was the most innovative/original of the series, but Mother 3 did a spectacular job of building on the creative base Earthbound laid, and just sheerly had more music. Mother also did quite well, but was limited by its hardware.
In the end, I think I have to give the edge to Mother 3, but it’s so close between that and Earthbound I wish I could just vote for them both.

Such a tough choice! I was torn between MOTHER 2 and 3 – but I eventually decided to go for MOTHER 3 since the music in that game moved me in a much heavier way than MOTHER 2’s soundtrack did.
They are all at least 9/10 in my books, but Mother 3 was definitely extraordinary.
I voted Mother3,and saw the result…Er,sorry M1…You need more love…;___;I like all of them,so its hard to say which I like best.
I like all three soundtracks, but based on preference I’d probably pick MOTHER, which is what I voted. I have nostalgia for EarthBound music, specifically the Twoson theme which is one of my favorite video game songs. I also like MOTHER 3’s music, but the battle music makes me stressed out when I can’t hit the combinations right. The MOTHER 3 Love Theme, however, is incredible.
There are more themes I like in MOTHER – Being Friends, Pollyanna, the opening theme, Eight Melodies. These are songs that relax and strike a chord with me.
I kind of wish that the game had less random encounters, as it frequently interrupts the background music. But taking the soundtrack out of the game, judging on its own merit, and that’s the soundtrack that I prefer, if only slightly.

Hell I really like the soundtracks for all three MOTHER games, but I’m beginning to lean on MOTHER 3. It has such a diverse, dynamic soundtrack that in some respects surpasses even its predecessor.

MOTHER. Earthbound and Mother 3 had excellent music, but most of the most memorable tunes (Eight Melodies, Being Friends, The Paradise Line, Pollyanna, All That I Needed) are from Mother.
I vote Mother 2. It used the SPC700’s sample playback in unique and creative ways that I hadn’t seen in any other SNES game.

It’s difficult, but I voted for EB.
M3 definitely has a beautiful soundtrack and some individual songs that I’m very much in love with. But overall, EB had the catchiest and most fun music.
Calculate in nostalgia, and it’s the clear winner. Haha.
I have to vote for Earthbound. I see a lot of this in the comments, but there’s just so many tracks in M3 that I can’t really get into. It has its good points, but Earthbound just sounds better to me. I even wake up to EB music. xD
This is a very hard decision… I can’t decide between MOTHER and MOTHER 3. MOTHER 2 had a great soundtrack too but not as many memorable songs as the other two
MOTHER 3 suffers from not having enough variation; do we really need 50 remixes of Porky’s themesong? It also sounds like a generic movie soundtrack at times, which is disappointing considering the previous games sounded less like a typical soundtrack and more like the magnum opuses of a very bizarre rock band.
It’s a tie between MOTHER and EarthBound, but I’m going to go with MOTHER for the sake of this poll simply because the game is under-represented. A lot of the classic themes that send shivers down our spines debuted in that game, and it’s amazing to hear how Suzuki and Tanaka came up with so many catchy songs considering the limitations of the platform they were working with.
For me it was a hard choice between Earthbound and MOTHER 3. Both have great soundtracks!
….This like choosing what you love more. Pancakes with chesse, pizza or eggs, damnit.
There is no question here. EarthBound/MOTHER 2 has THE best soundtrack.
