Tips for Buying EarthBound

July 13th, 2010 | EarthBound, Images

Devon sent in this tidbit the other day:

Tonight I visited a restaurant in my home town of Knoxville, Tennessee called The Tomato Head. They were featuring Earthbound themed specials tonight. Behold the Mr. Saturn Enchilada and the Orange Kid Wrap. Here’s a pic of the menu.

Has anyone else been by there? Anyone know who the owner is? It’d be cool to know if this is a regular occurrence.

Wow, that’s so cool! I wish there was a restaurant owner who likes Mother in my city too! XDD

That is just plain awesome. If I saw something like that out in the wild, I’d probably pee a little in giddiness.

And, it’s called the TOMATO head! Coincidence?

Penguiness said on Jul. 13, 2010

There are no oranges in the Orange Kid Wrap.
Also, no piggy jelly in the Mr Saturn Enchilada.

Did anyone recognize you there, Mato? You probably could’ve gotten free food.

Actually, it was Devon that went to this restaurant. I might have to find a way to visit this place.

It says on their website that their soup of the day today is “Gandalf”.

jeffy05 said on Jul. 14, 2010

it would be funny if as soon as you stick the fork in the Mr. Saturn enchilada, it goes “BOING!”

neonix said on Jul. 14, 2010

^I’d pay good money for that!

mattmanking90 said on Jul. 14, 2010

Was it Strawberry Tofu?!

I’m also a little upset that there are no oranges or anything related to citrus in the Orange Kid Wrap, but the ingredients sound delicious and I would like to try one. In fact, I’d like to try them both ♥

Shyamalan said on Jul. 14, 2010

Of course you don’t get what you expect when you buy the Orange Kid Wrap. I’d be rather suspicious of anything bearing his name.

Chas Guidry said on Jul. 14, 2010

I emailed the restaurant about the items and they said they were just chosen to be weird names for daily specials:

“We do daily specials and each day the person who creates them gives them a unique and often eccentric name. I’m guessing what you picked up on was one of the names that somehow related to EarthBound. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that the items were inspired by the game, just the names.

Hahaha, that’s amazing!
You gotta love coming across things like that when you’re out and about.

here we have the rare and exclusive Earthbound fan in his natural habitat making a usual Earthbound fanbase uproar. 🙂

Ahahaa, I’ve actually eaten there once. It’s actually pretty good.

Kyoo said on Jul. 15, 2010

I’d eat at this place almost daily if I lived by it… even if the food tasted horrible… just because. and I’d only order those two things…. I’m an earthbound nut

Leirin said on Jul. 15, 2010

You woulda heard excited screams if I were in that restaurant…

Haha, neat. They both sound tasty.

I found another kinda obscure Mother reference today: http://www.disgruntleddesigner.com/chrisc/secret/weekly/Stars_of_the_Family_Computer.html In the third picture (of Miyamoto’s desk), there is a Mother poster on the wall! =) Even if he said he was terrible at it, I guess Miyamoto still liked Mother 1?

Pimpshi said on Jul. 16, 2010

Are you kidding me?! Earthbound references in MY Tomato Head?! That’s amazing. They have pretty dang good food there, too. If you’re a vegetarian or you like good pizza (and obviously are in the area), check it out.

Yeah, that’s certainly more incentive to go back sometime soon…

TGP said on Jul. 16, 2010

Hey, Tomato’s head, what are you thinking?
I would never eat a Mr. Saturn.

tsukihime said on Jul. 17, 2010

I definitely enjoy good pizza. I’ll check out the place sometime.

“The Mrs. O’ Leary’s cow Burrito”, as a Chicago-ite, this is offensive.

I went to Farragut.

Let’s hope that they don’t use mushrooms in any recipies…

And let’s hope they don’t get their coffee from (a) certain

I didn’t know if it should be singular or plural…
