December 24th, 2009 | Audio Stuff, MOTHER 3

A good while back, MarioFan3 made a bunch of really cool-sounding 8-bit renditions of MOTHER 3 music. And now some more is here! Check it out!

I remember a good while back I saw someone trying to hack EarthBound Zero to be like MOTHER 3. It looked kind of cool and there was a screenshot or two that I can’t seem to find anymore. I think it would be cool to look at those screens while listening to these remixes and imagine what it would be like if video game systems had never evolved past the NES stage 😛

Wow, these sound amazing!

Kirby Chimera said on Dec. 24, 2009

Course, you can make these in about 20 minutes using GXSCC. (The acronym is something like that.) Makes them all sound awesome.

The EBZERO/M3 thing was cancelled.

I still need to beat Mother 3 :I

You gotta love the 8-Bit epicness 😀

Kyso said on Dec. 24, 2009

@userofdoom: Me, too. I restart and play Mother 3 and Earthbound all the time, but I always get distracted and lose the flow of the plot.

EB0 in M3 style? You mean this? http://toastteamgames.blogspot.com/

They seem to be busy but are planning out things and such.

Mato said on Dec. 24, 2009

Other way around, M3 in EB0 style.

Alec’s Log House is amazing! But all of these songs reminded me of Gameboy more than NES. Still awesome.

Ninji said on Dec. 25, 2009

Is it just me, or does the Saturn Valley theme sound like music from DuckTales on the NES

Sonicandtails said on Dec. 25, 2009

Is this VRC7? Some of it sounds a little…farfetched to work on the 2A03. Plus stereo :X

Yoshimad123 said on Dec. 25, 2009

Hehe, Oh-So Snake reminds me of Cave Story.

Millhouse said on Dec. 25, 2009

I love 8-bit remixes. Also, Cave Story for the Win!

Yoshimad123 said on Dec. 25, 2009

@Millhouse: Woot, a Cave Story fan!

I must admit that I’ve improved since the other round of 8-Bit music, and after seeing this, (link below)

http://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Forum/Music-NESBound/first

I see I still have much left to learn.
I don’t intend on giving up of course, I’ll continue to learn the techniques when creating this sort of thing. Still, I hope you enjoy these. 😀

From now on, you can request a song to be made if you like, and I’ll post links to them when they get done. So no, there won’t be an “Even More 8-Bit Mother3 Music” post. 😉

ARGH. This makes my ears sad.

FireStar said on Dec. 28, 2009

MarioFan3, what have you been using to make these? I’ve been assuming famitracker.
Also, Troublesome guys sounds WAY to GXSCC like.

MarioFan3 said on Dec. 29, 2009

@FireStar:
I THOUGHT Troublesome Guys didn’t sound right, but I couldn’t put my finger on it, so thanks for pointing that out. 😉

These don’t sound NES because I used a set of Commodore 64 sounds.
Basically, a bunch of guys with heaps of free time, managed to take each and every sound they could pound out of the C64 as they could, and made it an application plug-in, which is what I use.

I wish I could use Famitracker, it sounds like the most accurate NES sounding thing out there, unfortunately though, I can’t, if you know of a Mac version then I’ll be jumping for joy, thanks in advance. 😀

Sorry, nothing Mother series related. 😉

Love it, MarioFan3! It’s not as calming as the original, but that’s okay cuz it’s hard to make the instruments sound calming when you’re working with chiptunes.
