I love the sound of 8-bit.

Assorted Astrology-Related Names said on Oct. 7, 2009

Hey now, these are pretty awesome. This kinda makes me want to see a Mother 1 styled Mother 3…

Lost Hero said on Oct. 8, 2009

Oooooo, these would make good ringtones. Just a random thought. These are great! 😀

Fiends said on Oct. 8, 2009

Wow, MarioFan3 kicks ass.

MarioFan3 said on Oct. 8, 2009

I’m speechless!
Thanks guys, Mato! 🙂

Hejiru said on Oct. 8, 2009

Isn’t that last one called Unfounded Revenge?

Gummidge said on Oct. 8, 2009

Erm, these were likely dragged and dropped into GXSCC. Do correct me if I’m wrong. Still cool however.

V-King said on Oct. 8, 2009

@Gummidge: Probably not. GXSCC has completely different drumsets.

Gummidge said on Oct. 8, 2009

I suspected as much. I could argue that there are multiple drumsets in GXSCC, but I can’t be arsed to investigate and I’d rather just enjoy the mixes.

Lothis said on Oct. 8, 2009

I’m sure Tomato will get right on the retroification of MOTHER 3 for us 😀

eb0ebm3 said on Oct. 8, 2009

@Lothis: PKDisco?

Anyways thanks for uploading these! They sound great ^-^

PKSTARMAN said on Oct. 8, 2009

At Last, Something great! Thanks Mariofan3! Heh…Im also a Mario fan since childhood.

PKSTARMAN said on Oct. 8, 2009

He should make something like N.K. Cyborg and Master Porkys Theme in 8 bit sound.

SamWibatt said on Oct. 8, 2009

Terrific! Just like old times.

MarioFan3 said on Oct. 8, 2009

@PKSTARMAN: Cool, thanks for the idea! I’ll try N.K Cyborg first, never thought about it before, but i’ll probably finish it by next week depending on how things go 😉

Just to clear things up a bit, i don’t use GXSCC, in fact i hadn’t even heard of GXSCC until today.

(I’d also like to point out that after seeing what kind of sound GSXCC produces, it sounds nothing like the good old NES sound chips)

Ice Sage said on Oct. 8, 2009

Loving the 8-bit Unfounded Revenge! 😀

Komaru said on Oct. 8, 2009

At MarioFan3
GXSCC actually produces chiptunes using a Sound Chip that Konami used on the MSX, a really great old Japanese computer. I believe it has an option to switch it to the Famicom Sound chip, but I don’t know, it’s still not as cool as this.

Anonymous said on Oct. 9, 2009

Doesn’t sound 8-bit (or at least like NES) at all.

I’m not a music expert, but first of all, the NES doesn’t have stereo sound.

Anonymous said on Oct. 9, 2009

And secondly, the instruments are way off

Anonymous said on Oct. 9, 2009

I just checked, and all this guy did was take the Mother 3 MIDIs from vgmusic.com (which people actually sequenced themselves) and changed the sound font. That “Dedede Jr.” guy did the same thing. Tomato, you should stop posting these “renditions” that people have claimed as their own.

MarioFan3 said on Oct. 9, 2009

Nice try dude but no.
I think what Dedede Jr. did was the lamest way on earth to go about it.

EBFANguy said on Oct. 9, 2009

I noticed that the 8Bit Mother3 Love Theme is actually 8Bit Mom’s Hometown.

sci said on Oct. 9, 2009

It doesn’t have to sound like it came from a NES to be considered 8bit. There are other consoles, like the Commodore 64, Amiga, gameboy DMG, etc…
I even covered the the green train music, C64 style: http://8bitcollective.com/music/sci/The+Green+C64+is+Fun%2C+Too!/

Digitalized said on Oct. 9, 2009

I listen to 8-bit on my Ipod, and people look at me like I’m crazy.

The Pork Trooper theme’s great.

And ‘Anonymous’, just stop. You may be jealous or whatever, but it’s annoying.

MotherFan14 said on Oct. 9, 2009

EBFANguy, I noticed the same thing. And these are awesome! Great job to MarioFan3!

Claus said on Oct. 9, 2009

@Hejiru:

Yes. The Fassad/Pigmask Captain music was a little different and harder to get combos on.

Ryoff said on Oct. 10, 2009

With the 8-bit Fassad theme, my hand can’t help but twitch to the beat trying to hit an invisable button. He was such a pain on hard mode!

FireStar said on Oct. 10, 2009

MarioFan3, did you use Famitracker for this?
Nice, I haven’t heard any 8-bit renditions of any MOTHER song even though I’ve searched several times on 8bc. Now all I need to hear is Natural Killer Cyborg on a Genesis sound chip.

zedrein said on Oct. 10, 2009

8-bit? More like esoscopic myandrian sampling based cpu emulation!

SmaMan said on Oct. 12, 2009

@FireStar
Second that!

But these are really cool too. And trust me, I’ve used GXSCC and these sound WAY more authentic… and they don’t sound like any Mother 3 MIDI’s I’ve heard.

Pokey lives again said on Oct. 15, 2009

mother_rockin said on Oct. 17, 2009

alyon59 said on Oct. 19, 2009

could you imagine an 8-bit mother 3? that would be great

Pkhypernova said on Oct. 29, 2009

love em all

Obese Slime said on Oct. 29, 2009

I think 8 bit instruments are better then the Snes sounds.

Melody, daughter of Ninten said on Nov. 28, 2009

NICE! i love the 8-bit pokey theme (sry i always call pokey its a habit)

MarioFan3 said on Dec. 13, 2009

Just an update, I have good news, and I have bad news, which do you want to hear first?
No, I’ll start with the BAD news. 😉

I know I said the next round of 8-Bit renditions would be posted a week after these (if you read up above, near the top) and “depending on how things go” is what I said. 😉
For those who were waiting, the news wasn’t that great, I had exams, real life issues etc.
The Mother 2 save archive had higher priority anyway, sorry to those who were waiting.
Nonetheless, here’s the good news:D
Now that’s all out of the road it means the next round of songs is coming soon! So either expect to see them on either EBC, or here as I’ll post a link to them.
Ok, I’ll give you a hint to one of the songs:

Located on the bottom right of this page, the opposite to a hill.

MarioFan3 said on Dec. 13, 2009

Oh yeah, if you want to hear some of my other 8-Bit stuff, see here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ETTBAIA7

It’s something else to play with, it contains 5 songs 😀
1. Forest Maze (Super Mario RPG)
2. Overworld (New Super Mario Bros.)
3. Rusty Bucket Bay (Banjo Kazooie)
4. Spiral Mountain (Banjo Kazooie)
5. WaterLand (Super Mario 64)

Sorry, but no Mother related music gets spread that easily 😉

@neonix:
Hmm, was that too easy?
Ok I’m not good at this game, break time’s over *dig* *dig* *dig* *dig*

Ratheronfire said on Dec. 25, 2009

Is it just me, or does the 8-bit Love Theme sound like the theme from a city in Pokémon?

MuthaTweeFan said on Dec. 30, 2009

The Fassad/Pork trooper music is called “Misplaced Revenge” in game, but “Unfounded Revenge” In Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Whoops, you’re right. My bad.

death said on Feb. 20, 2010

MarioFan3 said on Feb. 21, 2010

Wow, this was done ages ago.
I should probably redo some of these sometime, especially the Love Theme (that was my first song), that could do with some touching up. 🙂

Jeff said on Mar. 14, 2010

Kyoo said on Mar. 14, 2010

Kyoo said on Mar. 14, 2010

OMG! I just played porky theme, absolutely fell in love with. I don’t know it’s probably because I grew up Nintendo. but wow! masterwork.

MarioFan3 said on Apr. 14, 2010

Thanks, I’ve been kinda neglecting these songs lately, I might consider what I said earlier actually. 😉
