Brazilian EarthBound fan Mitchell sent in this PDF file of scans from “Nintendo World”, a Nintendo magazine in Brazil. It talks about each of the games in the MOTHER series and looks like it’s been written by a passionate fan.

(download the PDF here)
Here’s what Mitchell has to say about it:
well, here it is. The Mother news in the brazilian’s magazine: Nintendo World.
it begins with a brief introduction about the Mother series, talking that a lot of games don’t reach the north american players. But also saying that there is no japan-only game more famous than Mother in the Nintendo’s eastern. it’s also talks that only one of the three episodes reach the american players and that a lot of the franchise’s popularity come from the smash bros games. in the introduction, it also says how surprisingly are their fans in the eastern that they reach the point to translate Mother 3 for pure passion.
Well, the rest of the text (talking about the games separately) isn’t more than we fans already knew. It makes a brief synopsis of each game, and talks about the people’s reaction, the prototype of the original mother, the unsucces of Earthbound, The EB64 game. (if you look closely in the mother 3 text, there is a reference to mother3.fobby.net!!!). Well, it also comes with a very nice FLCLish Ness picture.
If anybody’s willing to put the time in to translate it, that’d of course be great. Also, regular readers of EarthBound Central might recognize this magazine from stuff like this. Also, this is a different magazine from Brazil, but still really cool.

Just seeing this makes my brain confused.
If the Mother series has such a grand following worldwide why will they still not release any of them outside of Japan?
..like we need another Mario Galaxy.
(No offense to Mario Galaxy fans)
I guess Nintendo wants to play it safe with stuff they KNOW will sell, hence all the ridiculous Mario spinoffs and sequels and etc, so on.
The Mother series (seriously, just port ’em all on to a DS cart or something!) would sell like crazy, especially with with the series’ exposure through the Smash Brothers series.
Man, was that Ness art drawn by a magazine staffer? It’s pretty wicked.

Who drew that Ness? That’s pretty cool. And, I’d love to see Nintendo gain interest in it soon. I see interesting titles still coming out (another Metroid, Pokemon G/S remakes, etc)
You know what I find simply amazing? The fact that you can find something vaugely related to Earthbound everyday and post it here. It’s amazing it’s gone on this long without a day of nothing. Don’t get me wrong I love it it’s just that it blows my mind!
For those who also liked that Ness, I removed the text/noise and improved the colors a bit:

I liked it, Lampi. Could you do an original colours version please?
Sure, why not:

I’m brazilian too. There is other brazilian maganize that had on one edition a Earthbound dedicated page. I’ll try to scan and send the scans. But I should send the scans to who?

In the top right corner of every page is a big “Contact” link, you can send stuff through there.
I don’t know if it’s the same thing, but you might be thinking of this magazine. But if not, please send in your scans 😀
Yeah sir, it was from this magazine xD, I am too slow. I never thought that these scans were already on the site. My srror, sorry
I’m the Gabryel from last post. I can translate this to english, it’s in my natural language. Only give me some time
That FLCL-light art style suits Ness quite well.
