Flint, as he has always seemed the most realistic of the dads to me. Second choice would’ve been Ninten’s, ’cause he talks on the phone longer than Ness’s dad does. plus, you see his back in an epic light :O

Flint was a terrible dad. He neglected Lucas for Claus THE ENTIRE TIME. So, my vote goes for Ness’ dad.

i chose Ness’ dad because I find him humorous and like in the game, i can only communicate with my dad via phone since he works day and night shifts. i would’ve voted for Flint if he didn’t neglect Lucas for so long

Everyone in M3 was just flawed, flawed, flawed!!! Ness’ dad because I haven’t played Zero yet (that sprite looks cool though) and Ness’ dad is awesome. The father of a hero.

Isn’t that kind of, like, the point of the characterisation in Mother 3? That nobody’s perfect? Calling out Flint for being “flawed” and just leaving it like that seems a bit weird, since being flawed is what make him an interesting character rather than just a dude with a hat.

Ness’s dad, as he was always there right from the start. And, he cared for both the player and Ness (Reminding you that you’ve been playing the game for more than two hours is just brilliant).

Flint is a cowboy, and at least appears on the game… But I really disliked the way he forgets Lucas the entire game… He lost a son, and looking for him almost lost the other one (didn’t you let Lucas die not even once during the game??)

I like Ninten’s Dad for his odd yet unique personality. Also because he’s a cliffhanger.

He’s just cool, and makes MOTHER’s ending awesome. And all of Ninten’s Parents are being neglected.

I don’t like Ness’ because as IWontGetOverTheDam said, Ness’ is a long running joke, but I mean it the other way.

And Flint, well, he just said his son was ‘Foolish’ when he died, and it didn’t appear as if he cared.

Flint. Even though he did totally neglect Lucas after Claus’s disappearance, anybody who smashes people in the face with firewood just because they offered their condolences is fine by me (actually, no, I just found that morbidly hilarious).
In The Third Lie of The Notebook Trilogy, Lucas disappears and Klaus goes to live with his mother, who constantly talks of Lucas and what a great son he would be if he would find them again, just like Flint does in Mother 3. I never realized how much Mother 3 was based off that series.

Flint, simply because he makes an honest living as a farm man…

Ness’s Dad gave me a thing for telephones

Now, Flint is awesome, but after his wife died and his son ran away, he went CRAZY and never did anything awesome again until the very end of MOTHER 3. Yes, I know that the situation was a freak accident, but he could at least try to shape the only remaining member of his family into another awesome dude. And Lucas DID become awesome, but Flint had nothing to do with it.

Ness’ dad wasn’t there at all, and was represented as a telephone in the credits. Honestly, a PHONE. What the heck was he doing during EarthBound!? But I give him credit for giving Ness so much money.

Ninten’s dad is much the same as Ness’ dad, both in pros and cons. But, he’s actually SEEN in the very end, and it actually seems that he’s doing something secret and behind-the-scenes awesome. He might be a SECRET AGENT, for all we know, especially regarding his dialogue. And his outfit somewhat contributes to this. It’s one of the reasons I believe that Flint=Ninten.

So, my vote goes to Ninten’s dad, since he manages to stay shady and awesome throughout the entire game.

Flint. The other two are really just phones to us. Unless you count the end of Mother. At least Flint was seen with his son.

The only thing we have to ask ourselves in determining which father is the best is: Who is a Man and a Half?!

Ninten’s dad is obviously the best dad, he plants a phone in Ninten’s head just to tell him he outta take a break. Flint’s Dad was most likely a loving father before the Pigmasks came, but he neglected him too much after Claus died.

Flint. You get to play as him, and generally is the most human out of all of them.
I can understand him neglecting Lucas in the second half of the game. As I would think with the death of his beloved wife and one of his sons missing, he probably went insane with grief.
Also, he beats dragons up with A PIECE OF WOOD, tell me how that is not awesome!

Augh, I vote for Flint, poor guy! :C Friggin’ making me cry. He did kinda neglect Lucas though, but maybe he saw that Lucas could take care of himself. Who knows.

Anyways, Ness’ dad is also awesome, because he’s a phone that goes to bed whenever you talk to him. And is also exorbitantly rich. (I wanna see if someone will keep count of how much money Ness’ dad gives him over the course of the game! o__o;)

Sorry. I like Flint as a character, but not as a parent. (unlike Hinawa, who I respect as a character and a parent.) Ness’ Dad (though we never see him) is at least trying to be a parent (unlike someone who went out searching for his other son because he couldn’t get over what happened and be a parent) even though he’s never home.

They’re all abusive, neglectful fathers. But Flint… See, you’re all missing the point. He did care or else he wouldn’t have kept Lucas behind while he went looking for Claus. He didn’t want to lose his only remaining family member, and he just wanted to keep whatever family he had left by heading up the mountains.

Wow so many people voted for flint norris. why do we refer ness’s dad as the phone anyway? would that mean ness is part phone? or are we just crazy as usaul?

Well, I voted neither. I’m stuck. I really don’t give a d@#n about how awesome Flint is or how he looks like Chuck Norris, I couldn’t just pick FLINT OMG HES BOSS LIKE CHUCK NORRIS, or NESS’ DAD FREE MONEY FROM BEATING UP HIPPIES. No, I ruled them out.

Ness’ father really seemed like a nice guy to me, really. Throughout Ness’ adventure, he tries to support him in one way or another. He’s not there, but it sounds like he generally WANTS to be there. He works really hard to make sure his son succeeds in his quest, and that’s what I like about him. (Also, I’m pretty sure he’s not aware Ness beats up hippies or old men or dogs. It’s all coincidence. :D)

Ninten’s dad is also all of the above, and it also seems like some sort of shady agent, in danger all the time. So maybe he’s risking his life, and can’t spend time with his son. Or he’s just busy. Like Ness’ dad.

And I kind of understand Flint. He never got to say goodbye to his wife before she died, and he never sees her again. So I understand his viewpoint. I would also think Flint spends SOME time in the morning or in the afternoon with Lucas, not just “wake up, look for Claus, sleep”. Or at least I don’t think so. And he’s generally a nice guy, just torn up and apart, really.

And judging all of them, they all have their pros and cons. So I decided I wouldn’t pick anything.

Sorry that this is SO long… Lucas was walking on train tracks and then he worked at a factory. Lucas went to a place called CLUB TITIBOO! Lucas was walking on a highway with a hot girl. Then they climbed a tower and fell down ALL the way from the TOP! Then he got chased by the ultimate chimera and clibed a snowy mountain while wearing shorts. D: He went into a volacno and fought Fassad… After that he almost drowned. Then the whole party got tripped out on mushrooms… And then we FINALLY see Flint again in chapter 8! Child neglect?
