The cost to ship anything lighter than 5 lbs to Japan from the United States is about ten to fifteen dollars.

kurowoof: that’s for packages, shipping simple letters is much cheaper, I’ve sent many letters in my time, usually comes to like a dollar. Maybe it’s gone up since the last time, pretty sure it’s not that expensive though.

Does “Doseisan” have a literal English translation, or is it more complicated than that?

Dosei is Saturn , and san is a suffix meaning something like Mister. San iss more of a way to show respect , or so I believe. I’m not too sure.

Ah, so it is very similar to “Mr. Saturn,” then. Neat. I was wondering if they made the Mr. Saturn name up out of whole cloth, or if it had any connection to the Japanese.

Done my letter and I think I’m going to draw a few of ’em on there as well. Mato, you should discuss posting this of Starmen.net with Reid as well; I’m sure that might get us some more letters 🙂

Uh… Mato, is there anyway you might be able “Proof-read” my letter? I’d like to do it in Japanese if possible, but I’m not really that good yet^^; (I’ve done about a year and a half through college) I wouldn’t want to cause confusion, or y’know, be insulting somehow.

I think if you get this news on starmen people will be all over it on an even higher degree. I would add extra emphasis on the “only send one” part though. Just in case people try to go “heehee PK Mr. Saturn siege” up in the joint.

now all i need to do is have someone translate my english letter into japanese. my original letter used the saturn font, but i kinda want to use the hiragana i put together instead.

id love to send one..but im seriously doubting theyre going to make them in america despite our efforts. 🙁

I wish I could write a clever letter to them in English, something like:

Boing! Zoom! Where Mr. Saturn? Can do all for America!

and then I’d make sure it was in the Mr. Saturn font… *sigh* all these clever ideas going to waste…

My Japanese contact wasn’t able to get one of the first 500, BUT there is a second series on the way due to the high demand. The deadline this time is March 22 and there will be a 100% guarantee to get one. 😀 They will ship out in June.

Yeah, I’ve heard that an e-mail was sent out, but I’m still trying to find a copy of it so I can translate it and make an update about it 🙁

My friends B-day is coming up by the end of June and if there is anyone who could personally help me get one (even if I won’t have it by then) that would be awsome and I can pay you. Im not rich though, my friends and I are just REALLY obsessed with Mr. Saturn. Like, “Pwah” is the most said word in our conversations. We draw Mr. Saturns on every page of our Notes and draw them on every blackboard in the school. This would be the most epic gift in the history of epic-ness. My E-mail is;

I wrote one. It read:

“We (America and Europe) like Doseisan plush toys. Please bring Doseisan to other continents. Thank you.”

Keep in mind this was in Mid-March.

It’s August 2010 now but can we still send letters?

Im thinking about it, but with the earthquake and tsunami, They may not be able to ship them, because of the radiation….
