Tips for Buying EarthBound

January 11th, 2009 | Audio Stuff, EarthBound

Maaaany years ago, Sephy made a really long EarthBound-themed trance song called Trancebound. Really long, like 40 minutes or something. Back in the day, files that size were considered really big and hard to host, but not so much anymore. It gets requested every few years and often newcomers will answer with, “What?” when someone asks about Trancebound.

Anyway, because I like it so much, I thought I’d spread the word and put a download for it here, so it will be easier for people to discover it. I actually hadn’t really been much of a trance music guy until around the time I heard this, so even if trance isn’t your thing, you might want to give it a try 😀

Download Trancebound here!

I’ve heard a couple other really cool EarthBound trance songs since then. I think it’s probably because EB’s quirky music fits well with that feel.

I saw someone asking about this a while ago. I downloaded it when you uploaded it back then, and it’s on my iPod now with a play count of 13.

I’ve never heard this before, but I’m really liking it. Thanks for putting it up!

Mato said on Jan. 11, 2009

Poe: You probably have this already, but there’s a Trancebound remix of This Is My House too: boo

Poe said on Jan. 12, 2009

Oh I’ve heard that remix on RadioPSI before, but I didn’t know Sephy was behind it.

I haven’t heard this in years, but I remember loving it. Definitely a must-hear for EarthBound fans.

darkhamsterlord said on Jan. 12, 2009

Whoa, awesome.

I got really freaked out when it said “I miss you” though. Didn’t see it coming.

Spyden said on Jan. 12, 2009

I can’t seem to download it, is there possibly another link or location to download it from?

Mato said on Jan. 12, 2009

Are you clicking it normally or are you right-clicking and doing “save file/save as”?

Spyden said on Jan. 12, 2009

Right click doesn’t let me “Save target as” unfortunately.

Mato said on Jan. 12, 2009

How do you normally download files then?

Spyden said on Jan. 12, 2009

Usually when I click the file it automatically downloads.

However, When I click this file, Quicktime pops up to play it and I don’t have (nor do I want to pay for) the pro edition.

I believe that this may be a problem with Internet Explorer.

Spyden said on Jan. 12, 2009

Ok, it was just my computer. I tried my laptop and voila! Downloaded.

Weird.

Great song, thanks for the file!

^^If you have any problems like that in the future, you can hit Ctrl+S (Cmd+S on Mac) on the Quicktime player page to download it.

Thanks, I like songs that don’t repeat for a long time. Although my only complaint is the intro being just a rip of the first few songs.

That’s probably just me, since I was VERY scared of the intro image (and still don’t enjoy watching it).

Great song, I’m surprised, that I had the patience to play this on Audiosurf. If you do this I highly recommend to play as some other then mono(like I did). It’s little boring that way.

Tsukihime said on Jan. 14, 2009

Wow, that’s awesome! I’m glad I didn’t miss this.
I’m also glad that I’m not the only one who thought a super long trance remix would be boss.

Eventually… eventually, I’ll create my 11 minute Pollyanna trance… xD

Silver Streak said on Jan. 17, 2009

Oh man, I’ve heard of Trancebound in passing a few times, but I thought it was an entire remix album, not a single forty minute song!

I’ve already listened to it twice, it’s that good. 😀

Pimpshi said on Jan. 17, 2009

Wow, I love this! Trancebound is huge, but a very well-made piece. The ThisIsMyHouse remix is awesome as well. This just reminds me how much I can’t wait for the next Rock Candy installment.

MrSaturn99 said on Jun. 25, 2011

When was the song originally released?

Mato said on Jun. 26, 2011

I wanna say between 2001 and 2003, but I’m not 100% sure.

MrSaturn99 said on Jun. 26, 2011

Thanks! P.S. There have been rumors of M3 coming to the 3DS store in Japan. Do you think that we might eventually get it over here?

Mato said on Jun. 26, 2011

Very doubtful, the cost to translate it would be way too much investment for a release like that.

Rock said on Jun. 26, 2011

I remember you said that, if Nintendo wants to release MOTHER3 on America, they could use your translation for free. I think…
So, its not impossible.

Doruchan said on Jun. 26, 2011

Mato’d have to contact Nintendo with his translation and…well, basically, the Big M will have to reach out to the Big N. It won’t happen the other way around.

Mato said on Jun. 26, 2011

Yes, the offer to use my translation work is there, but by their own internal rules they’d have to handle all the reprogramming and testing on their own from scratch, which would be far more money than would make sense for a release like that.

Rock said on Jun. 27, 2011

True.
Since they have the source code, their version would not have the menu transition bug, or the “There was no effect on the Lucas!” bug. But they would censor a lot of stuff, so your fan translation will be always the best, Mato.
