Tips for Buying EarthBound

April 11th, 2008 | EarthBound, Images, Uncommon Knowledge

After a few weeks of really busy work, I finally have time to do a review/synopsis of that movie that scarred Shigesato Itoi and served as inspiration for Giygas. I’ll probably have the full write up with plenty of pics and commentary this weekend, but for now here is THE pic that everyone’s wanting to see.

That’s what traumatized Itoi. Seriously. That’s as risque as it gets. It’s not even a rape; the lady is making love to a guy who just agreed to marry her. So anyway, more commentary and pics and discussion of stuff this weekend if all goes well. Until then, may Giygas be with you!

You said that this could count as “red light adults-only warning” at the time.
I dislike cleavage/nudity (especially the female kind), yet I find that image mildly acceptable…

(If you really want “red light adults-only warning” stuff, look at that “Princess Yukiko” cutscene from Persona 4, and P. Yukiko is tame compared to Shadow Rise/Risette from the same game!)

The movie came out in the 50s, things were a lot different then.

Wow, Now for some reason I wish Itoi would make a T-Shirt with a Picture of Giygas on it.

I get the impression that Giygas is asking me to help him make muffins from that picture, or he’s asking me if I want one. Not sure.

He was 7 years old… Kids can easily traumatized by those kind of thing they don’t understand… Plus, for the 50’s, this was probally a movie with strong scene, since it implies to severing a corpse…

What makes Giygas so scary is that he’s personification of the Trauma/Fear itself, and all came from the mind of a child, with distorted memories… Memories can be disturbing, when you don’t fully remember them…

Anyone who watched “The Final Cut”, with Robin Williams, can kinda undestand Itoi’s feelings and memories… =)

Giygas doesn’t look scary, he looks (dare I say it) GAY in this pic.
