EarthBound has just been released on the New 3DS Virtual Console in North America! If you happen to have a New 3DS you can get the game for $9.99. EarthBound on the Wii U cost a few dollars more than other Super NES games on the Wii U Virtual Console, so I was curious to see if the New 3DS version of EarthBound would have a price difference too. It does – other Super NES games on the New 3D...Read More »
There was a Nintendo Direct yesterday, and it was announced that Super NES Virtual Console titles would soon be made available for the New 3DS. And later this month, EarthBound will be one of the first titles available in North America! The game has already been made available in other regions, though – you can get it on your New 3DS if you live in Europe for example. MOTHER 2 is also now a...Read More »
Nintendo is holding a sale on a lot of Wii U games, including EarthBound for the Virtual Console! For the next few days it’s reduced to $6.99 from its usual price of $9.99. I don’t play my Wii U very much so I don’t know if it’s possible to gift games to friends. But if you can, this could be a good time to do it. If not, then it’s still a good time to buy the game ...Read More »
MOTHER 3 was just re-released on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console, and to commemorate the event Nintendo has all three of the Japanese games on sale for a limited time. Japanese fans are now able to buy the entire series on the Wii U: The MOTHER 3 Miiverse is also filled with lots of cool posts and drawings from Japanese fans. Fans outside of Japan have also taken to asking for a localized rel...Read More »
In the latest Nintendo Direct, it was announced that MOTHER 3 will be released on the Japanese Wii U Virtual Console on December 17, 2015: A MOTHER series-themed Nintendo prepaid card was also revealed: And of course the same Nintendo Direct shared info about the upcoming Lucas amiibo, due to be released in North America on January 22, 2016: Wow, so that’s two official pieces of MOTHER 3 ...Read More »
You might’ve seen the English-language promo video for EarthBound Beginnings already, but if you haven’t, here it is: And here’s a look at the Japanese promo video, which I’d never seen before until now: Which one do you like better? I shared this on last night’s Earthbound Central Live stream, but here it is again: EarthBound Beginnings has reached #1 on the Wii U’s recent sales rankings! It almost feels surreal to see a two decade-old, previously-unreleased NES game dethroning a completely brand-new Nintendo IP. Is this real life? The above picture is from the North American Wii U sales charts, but EarthBound Be...Read More »
A lot happened yesterday! The super-big news is that the game before EarthBound – which most of us call EarthBound Zero – has been officially released in English on the Wii U Virtual Console! The game costs $6.99 in the U.S. and £6.29 in the UK, I’m not sure what it costs in other regions, though. The game appears to be exactly the same as the prototype ROM that we’re all ...Read More »
adelinax sent this in a while back: here is a scan from a German promotional booklet for the Wii-U that is available at larger electronics stores. I’m not 100% sure what it says – can anyone share a translation? Also, it’s kind of disappointing that the game hasn’t actually been translated into German, but I guess that’d be too much work/too much money for a simple V...Read More »
In a recent press release, Nintendo stated that EarthBound’s doing well on the Wii U Virtual Console: EarthBound launched July 18 for the Virtual Console service on the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and is off to a great start. Only two eShop titles, New Super Luigi U and Pikmin 3, generated more consumer spend in the same time period since launch. Not only that, it sounds like EarthBound is now ...Read More »
- DJ: From what I’ve gathered I’m pretty sure he still writes copy, so they’re an ad company.

- Leeaux: Hey I just saw this! Really interesting watch to. Lots of little fun facts.
- Mary: The “behind the scenes” video on how the Ness animation was made is great too. The animators channel is A + Start.
