Yesterday, Nintendo posted the following New Year’s greeting on its social media accounts: I got lots of e-mails from EarthBound fans about #2 in particular 😛 I’m not sure what I’d put for #1. Maybe I’ll finally play all the way through a Pokemon game. ...Read More »
The other day I posted this Fangamer video about a charity auction for the upcoming EarthBound Bash: Anyway, yesterday Chewy and I sat down and translated/subtitled it into Japanese to share with Itoi and the folks at his office. And almost immediately after Itoi saw it, he made a Tweet about it and shared it with everyone he could! This roughly translates to: I got an e-mail from @lindsayn. She...Read More »
Yesterday was Mother’s Day, and to commemorate it Shigesato Itoi tweeted something MOTHER-related: The first town in MOTHER 2 is “Onet”, but the first town in MOTHER is called, yes, “Mothersday”. It’s nothing much, but I thought I’d share it anyway. I’m more surprised at his misspellings than anything, but it’s somewhat common for Japanese crea...Read More »
Yesterday, for some reason, Shigesato Itoi started doing an advice column sort of thing on his Twitter for a short time. You know, something like where people would say, “My dog is hungry. What should I do?” and then he’d give a reply, oftentimes a silly one. Well, a couple people happened to ask MOTHER-related questions, so here they are! QUESTION: Mr. Itoi, I love the MOTHER ...Read More »
Today marks seven years since MOTHER 3 was released… Man, I say it every year, but it’s crazy how it’s already been this long 😯 It feels like just yesterday we were all jumping up and down with excitement every time Itoi updated the MOTHER 3 preview site. I actually would’ve completely forgotten about this year’s anniversary if it hadn’t been for this Japanes...Read More »
Last month Shigesato Itoi started to occasionally post messages on Twitter about some sort of MOTHER revival or MOTHER republication, and in one of his first messages he said: the “MOTHER republication” thing I mentioned briefly before The thing is, no one knew what the heck he was talking about. For pretty much everyone, including me, this was completely new news! I finally tracked down what ...Read More »
Last year there were a few Twitter accounts that went through the story of EarthBound as if Ness was actually doing his adventure in real-time and posting about it online. These kinds of things are kind of common now, but I didn’t expect to see one done from multiple characters’ points of view all at the same time! That’s exactly what Skye is doing. You can follow the Chosen Fou...Read More »
The other day, I posted about how Shigesato Itoi recently joined Twitter. I was reading through a lot of comments to him just now and came across this, which I’ve translated into English: aoki818 @itoi_shigesato It’s been a really long time, Mr. Itoi. This is Aoki, I was on the staff of the old Mother 3 (the one that wasn’t released). I heard you joined Twitter, so I thought I...Read More »
Despite being in his 60s and admittedly only able to use computers for basic things like word processing, EarthBound creator Shigesato Itoi now has a Twitter account. Of course, everything he types is in Japanese, so unless you’re a really diehard fan his posts are probably meaningless to most fans outside of Japan. I doubt he’ll talk about the MOTHER series much, if ever, since he alm...Read More »
Every once in a while I like to search for some stuff on Twitter, including EarthBound-related stuff. So I thought I’d share a few of those things right now. - DJ: From what I’ve gathered I’m pretty sure he still writes copy, so they’re an ad company.
- cosmodos: What does his company even do? Is it actually lucrative? From what I can gather (not knowing Japanese), it’s just his blog, and he...

- Leeaux: Hey I just saw this! Really interesting watch to. Lots of little fun facts.
- Mary: The “behind the scenes” video on how the Ness animation was made is great too. The animators channel is A + Start.
