EarthBound Music in Zelda

This year’s Summer Games Done Quick event was amazing, and EarthBound was one of the games played! EarthBound speedrunner Aurilliux managed to reach the end of the game in 1 hour and 27 minutes as hundreds of thousands of people watched from around the world! Here’s a look at the live run, which features some crazy random number manipulation that almost feels like card-counting in a c...Read More »
Supergamerk sent me this video of a battle with Diamond Dog in EarthBound. It starts out normal but ends in a silly way: I wonder if this would be useful for speedrunners in some way, or if there’s a quicker way to beat Diamond Dog. ...Read More »
Supergamerk sent in this EarthBound trick a little while back: Hello, Tomato! So, you know how people will claim: “There is NO way to lose the Starman Jr. battle. None.” Well, I’ve made that statement false that now. Simply, just grind Ness to level twelve before getting Buzz Buzz, and use the Shield move he gets at that level in the Starman Jr. battle, and it will cancel out Buz...Read More »
I recently read on a really nice, thorough, well-researched Japanese MOTHER 2 site that it’s possible to cause a bug in the game that I’ve never heard of before. Basically, it supposedly goes like this – you use the For Sale Sign, then, while waiting for the customer to show up, you learn Teleport Alpha from the monkey. If timed right, the customer will show up as soon as the ...Read More »
An old trick that most crazed EarthBound fans know about is the Shattered Man Glitch – basically, there are two Shattered Man enemies in the Summers museum, but if you keep one alive until the end of the game, it’ll still be there even after you defeat Giygas. If you then let it kill you, the game will glitch up and freeze and such. Anyway, a reader by the name of Shugey recently sent ...Read More »
The other day I happened upon a really cool post on the EarthBound Miiverse – how to get to Magicant with Ness at level 9! This tip comes from a user named Adam (Azure30): Get anywhere from 110 to 122 exp before fighting Frank in Onett. Any less wont make your level any lower in the end, any more and you’ll be level 10 or more in the end. 109 exp gets you to level 5 for Frank, he shou...Read More »
For years and years, maybe even as far back as the late 90s, I always wanted to make a Game Genie code that would make enemies drop items 100% of the time. I always pushed it off for another day… until yesterday, when I was like, “You know, I think I’ll come up with that code today.” It took a few hours since I didn’t know what I was doing, but in the end I got it! ...Read More »
A long while ago while working on my MOTHER 2 / EarthBound comparison stuff, I found myself accidentally missing getting a screenshot in the Lost Underworld in MOTHER 2. It would take me a looooong time to get back there, so I never got the screenshot: I’ve been working on revamping and moving my EB comparison stuff, and I decided it was time to finally get that screenshot. But, again, it w...Read More »
The other day I posted about a neat MOTHER 1 trick BBGangZombie found (see here), and now here’s some more! These particular tricks involve how music is loaded while walking around in MOTHER 1/EarthBound Zero: I have another few glitches if you want to take a look—these ones aren’t as major though, and I found both of these on my own by accident so I’m sure SOMEBODY knew of these befor...Read More »
For years I’ve heard of a bug in MOTHER 1 that lets you keep EVE the robot permanently in your party, but I never really looked into it. Luckily, BBGangZombie’s investigated it and made a video about it! Apparently the bug only occurs in the Famicom version of the game, not in EarthBound Zero or MOTHER 1+2. You basically just use the Flea Bag on R7038XX, which makes it so it can’...Read More »
- DJ: From what I’ve gathered I’m pretty sure he still writes copy, so they’re an ad company.
- cosmodos: What does his company even do? Is it actually lucrative? From what I can gather (not knowing Japanese), it’s just his blog, and he...

- Leeaux: Hey I just saw this! Really interesting watch to. Lots of little fun facts.
- Mary: The “behind the scenes” video on how the Ness animation was made is great too. The animators channel is A + Start.
