Eating at EarthBound Shops #3
Back in 1999, a preview version of the N64 MOTHER 3 was playable at Nintendo’s Spaceworld event. Staffers who worked the booth were given special DCMC shirts, they’re so rare that even 15 years later it’s hard to find any good, concrete info about them. Even pictures are hard to come by! Luckily, one appeared on Yahoo Auctions Japan the other day, and it wound up selling for the ...Read More »
Very recently a pre-release version of EarthBound hit eBay – you can check it out here. Here are some excerpts from the description: This is a pre-production prototype of Earthbound for the SNES. There are very, very few of these known, and one hasn’t sold publicly on Ebay in recent history (personally, I’ve never seen one listed). When it comes to Earthbound collectibles, this...Read More »
The EarthBound Anthology books were made back in like 2007 or so in super-limited quantities, so when one appeared yesterday on eBay a bunch of people took notice. What’s even stranger is the story behind this particular one: I found this book at a thrift store and got it because Iliked the artwork, but found out it was a sought after book. (More info and pics here) I’m dying to know ...Read More »
Official EarthBound posters are notoriously rare and usually fetch really high prices on eBay. After a year or two of not seeing one, a poster popped up on eBay the other day for $2499. Man, you’d have to beat up like 800 Runaway Dogs to afford that 😯 ...Read More »
The other day we saw Satoru Iwata tweet about his special MOTHER 2 staff jacket that he found – see here. Today, Shigesato Itoi retweeted Iwata’s message and added, “I found mine.” and posted a photo of his own MOTHER 2 jacket: I wonder just how many were made… ...Read More »
Earlier today, Satoru Iwata posted a tweet about another piece of MOTHER 2 merchandise he has – one of the super-rare MOTHER 2 jackets! Here’s a translation of what he says: Hello, this is Iwata of Nintendo. Continuing with yesterday, here’s another piece of MOTHER 2 merchandise. This is a special sukajan jacket given to the staff. The logo is faithfully recreated in embroidery ...Read More »
In a recent Tweet, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata said: Hello, this is Iwata of Nintendo. A Wii U Virtual Console version of MOTHER 2 will be released on the 20th. It’s a game I personally worked on as a programmer and is full of memories. I found something at my house that really takes me back, so I’m posting a photo of it here. The photo is of a boxed copy of MOTHER 2 that basicall...Read More »
I haven’t seen a Mach Pizza Air Freshener for sale in a long, long time, so if you’re interested in picking one up, one recently showed up on eBay here! I’m guessing the seller would prefer to sell it with the complete copy of EarthBound. That might put it out of a lot of people’s price range, but maybe he’d be willing to sell it separately if you ask, I dunno. If an...Read More »
A long time back, the original MOTHER game had an official soundtrack released. Except it wasn’t music from the game – it was mostly actual studio music full of vocals and such. Most people know that this was released on a CD, but it was also released on cassette tapes! It’s actually really hard to find the cassette versions though, so they’re one of those rare relics that ...Read More »
Poe put up a bunch more of our MOTHER/EarthBound stuff up for auction on eBay yesterday, here’s a quick look! Japanese EarthBound Anthology I already sort of explained the Japanese anthologies here. These were made and sent to Itoi, Iwata, Miyamoto, and a few other people and media outlets in Japan. In all, I think only 10 or 15 exist. The main text of the anthology was professionally trans...Read More »
