You won't find many game-specific docs like that. Instead, look for docs that talk about locating text, relative searching, tables, and stuff like that.

Mato, I can't thank you enough for this translation. I know you've heard it many times before, but YOU ARE AWESOME! I didn't found any problem in the game, no bugs, no anything, and even though I found some typos (I'm playing the first version)..... Heck, even official translations have typos!
However, I'm having a hard time using the translation tools. First, I couldn't get MOTHER 1 Funland to work. Even though I installed NET Framework 4 (the latest one), it says something about a "runtime error". I tried editing some text with Notepad. Even though I ran into some formatting errors, those were my fault, and I fixed 'em. But, when I got to edit some Mother's Day text, things got really weird, and the text strings were misplaced (for example, checking the gift box in Ninten's room gave me an Item 53, I guess, or a Red Weed, and Mom told me "I'm Abott, the mayor's assistant!") What am I doing wrong?

Not sure, it sounds like the lines are out of order somehow. I suspect the following -
Normally, the lines should be laid out like this:
001: Original Line 001-E: Your new line 002: Original Line 002-E: Your new line
But I imagine somewhere in the file you have something like this happening:
001: Original Line001-E: Your new Line 002: Original Line 002-E: Your new line
It might not be exactly that, but something along those lines. If you post your text file I can take a quick look at it too. I'm thinking the b0rkedness of the text file is probably why Funland gives you an error too.

IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW! Now I see what I did wrong. I was editing BOTH text strings, but I'm uploading the text file, just to make sure. Thanks, Mato. EDIT: I'm including a .zip since the forum says "The extension .txt is not allowed.".

Well, your file loads fine when I try Funland. I don't have the time to try to figure out why wrong lines are showing up for wrong people, do you still have that problem now?

No problem, Mato, check it out if you have the time (and if you feel like it, of course). Funland still doesn't works for me. Well, whatever, I think I'll translate first, and then play through the game to see if I made any formatting errors, so I can fix 'em later. Thanks once again, Mato.

meleemario wrote: Hey Tomato, just wanted to stop by and say amazing work on the patch! Although I did notice a typo, after I rescued Pippi from the zombies, and brought her to the Mayor's office, and talked to Abbot, I remember him saying the following. "I'm Abbot, the Mayor.....'s assistant" shouldn't it be Mayor's?
Also, I dig the easy ring, makes the game go more smoothly, I played the NES version of it last summer, and I remember it being a pain in the ass with how long it took to grind.
Again, thanks for an amazing job on this translation, and thank you for doing this in the first place! I'd say this is the definitive version of Mother 1! Yeah, that line messed with me too. Then I understood what it meant. That's probably the best translation that anyone could make! Here's why: In Japanese, the line would read something like: 'Watashi wa Abbot desu, Mother's Day no Mayor... no {Assistant}' The word 'no' can be equated to the English 'apostrophe s'. Since it's a separate word, it would be much easier to understand what the line intended in Japan, since it wouldn't read like a typo. I hope that helped... It's not a very good explanation, and I'm not very good at Japanese
