Question directed at Mato: What kind of extra forum boards do you plan to add (if any)? And are you open to suggestions? If so, this could be a thread for suggestions and brainstorming to help form the most appropriate new boards.

One idea leveraged me to make this thread, and then my mind wandered, and I ended up with three suggestions, so I just listed them.

• An Off-Topic board. Threads like viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32 obviously don't belong anywhere in the current forums, but aren't necessarily bad topics of random discussion when you want to hear form fellow EB fans.
  
• I remember someone suggesting a Merch trading board. I think that would be a pretty cool idea, given a disclaimer to be aware of trusted and new members when forming trades. I'd be willing to oversee a board like this to inspect deals that look suspicious, etc. Maybe even act as a middle man, if requested, to prevent rip-offs.
  
• I love music, especially EB music, and so does everyone else, so I'd also like to suggest an "EarthBound / MOTHER Series Music" forum. A place to discuss original tracks, remixes, arrangements, the inspirations (or stolen..) tracks for EB music, get advice for WIP tracks, and maybe even discuss & recommend the music from the games' composers, and EarthBound-eque music that isn't even related to the series.

A nonsense board would just attract all the post whores to jack up his or her post count.

Off topic board would be a good place to start, as mentioned above. Maybe branch off from there...?

I'd suggest a pk hack forum, but I think starmen.net has a firm grasp on that community...

I've also noticed that alot of forums have a strong RP aspect to them (zeldauniverse.net, giantitp.com, gaiaonline.com, etc...)

That last one could be for the distance future, though.

I haven't had much time to focus on the forums so bear with me if things are a little slow to get done.

My goal with the forums isn't for it to be very big. I'm actually surprised with myself that I've made four different boards already, but then again the forums have been livelier than I ever expected. I think at the most I'll make an off-topic board, but beyond that I'm not sure I want it to get any bigger. But we'll see how things go.

EDIT: Music can go in the new art/music/etc. board, and trading can be done on the merch board. I can't really see the trading stuff taking off here, but who knows.

I am sort of curious Mato, why did you decide to make another EarthBound forum, especially considering Starmen had an EBC board?
Apologies if you answered this somewhere already and I missed it.

A couple reasons, mostly it was very overlooked and I was often asked why I had the board over there. I actually toyed with a separate forum in the past (a few people might remember) but got too busy to bother with it. The other reasons are in the front-page update about the forum.

why would somebody brag about their post counts if they in no way contributed to actual content?

It's better than the people who contantly quote others just to have somthing legitimate to say, and thus raise post count...



..not that I do anything like that.
