I finally got to see Scott Pilgrim vs. The World last night and it was definitely one of my favorite movies in a long time. The first thing you hear is a sound effect from Zelda. :o Less than two minutes in, you hear two more! Sound effects from other games are used throughout the whole movie, alongside scenes and little things that emulate video game UI and comic book style so well and so uniquely. And it had a lot of hilarious moments, and tons of inside jokes and delicious references that only a nerd/geek/gamer could understand. :geek:

Oh and the wardrobe is awesome. I mean, Scott wears not one, but TWO Smashing Pumpkins shirts in the film = Awesome with me (I could only have wished they had gotten a real MOTHER 2 shirt like in the graphic novel). Speaking of MOTHER, regardless of whether it was an intended reference or not, I still smiled when the Chaos Theatre showed up.

The fight scenes were good too.

Oh and the girl who plays Ramona is mad hot.

I couldn't recommend the movie any more to anyone who is a little nerdy or has at least enjoyed one video game and seen one comic book in their life.

It's not bad actually he does not play that *socially awkward teenage roll* as much in this movie. It's deffinately worth seeing.

I was told he's pretty much the same as he was in every other movie.
Which makes me :| about this movie.

I really liked the comics, but the commercials to this completely turn me off.

one should never judge a movie till after he or she has watched. it. that being said. I will not rate this movie.

but I will say, I like what i see on the comercials I love how it reminds me of the old Batman TV show with Adam West. where they made all the comic effects inside the movie. that's awesome for the cheesyness factor. I'm sure I'd enjoy this movie when ever I get around to watching it.

I don't know why people hate on Cera for acting the same way in all his movies. If the producers want that sort of character, then someone has to play it. He's just doing what he does best. And he's not the only actor that plays the same persona in many movies.

In any case, I actually find the socially awkward teenager thing pretty funny. :F

It's not that I don't like Cera.
It's that I don't think the stereotypical character he plays fits the role of Scott Pilgrim well.

That's all, really.

Mmm, fair enough. But you should still give the movie a shot. I didn't read the graphic novels, so I can't speak for the role, but I think he played it well in the movie, not so awkward, but more like a timid teenage kid that somehow becomes more badass in the rush of a magical fight. But as with all movie adaptations, you have to let go of the idea of it being the book in animated form, because directors always have their own vision.
