Here is what I think as to why Mother 3 has not come here. It is all one big conspiracy from the American government.
Here are the reasons.
When people keep asking and asking about the mother series they say there are no plans or have no comment as to why or why not.
When the fan translation was being made Nintendo was aware but they did nothing because they want people to experience the game that is being kept from the American gaming public and here is why.
Mother 3 teaches us Morals. That's right people Mother 3 is actually teaching us something that America does not want it's people to learn. The game teaches us a few things.
Treat the Earth with respect because once it's gone it's gone. As in cleaning up pollution, not letting technology consume us. And it shows that Money and greed changes people.
In the game there is frequent animal abuse and animal testing (chimera's) that show it can lead to bad disasters. There is a lot of animal testing and gene splicing going on that they don't want a game to show that it's bad to get more and more people against it.
The Magipsies are also something they disprove because it shows homo sexuality/trans gendered people that it's cool are alright or (accepting). Those are the characters you think are weird at first but you end up loving them because of how witty and awesome they are. The government is already having enough problems trying to keep gay marriage banned.
There are plenty of other reasons but there is also a big thing some people look past. Notice how in the beginning of the game there is no currency, everyone works together, no one has more or less. Hmm... could this relate to communism? i know some people here reading this won't take me seriously but I wanna start this topic for a discussion as to why you think Mother 3 relates to everyday morals. Discuss!

There's no possible way that the gov't is suppressing the game because of so called "morality" in game.
Firstly, I doubt that there are many, if any people in the US government that know about Mother 3. Also before the fan translation there was no easy way to know what was in it.

I hope this thread is a joke. In any case, I won't lock it, but PLEASE don't start derailing into controversial posts about homosexuality or morality in general. It really has no place in the EarthBound Central forums.

It is unlikely that Earthbound will ever be re-released, but there is almost a 0% chance that Mother 3 will ever come to America. Even if it did, so much stuff would be removed or altered (Magypsies, etc.) that it wouldn't even resemble the Mother 3 in Japan.

everything Hiro-chimera, stated in his OP is 100% true. we should spread the word. record manipulative left wing extreme liberal biased video tapes mixed with confusing humor and the words of Hiro-chimera, the viewers will become so muddled they'll believe everything they see by default; and demand that the US government allows Mother 3 to be legally released in the USA. this will of course catch the US government off guard. because they aren't aware that the people of mother have already been mentally altered in ways that allows us to see truth. so that we can see through the lies of the US government. but then I think to myself... wait a minute Hiro-chimera, is Canadian, he's speaking the truth because he doesn't have to fear the US government retaliation.... but anyway I was side tracked. the US government will be caught off guard. and to try to deny that they're preventing us from playing it. they force NOA to translate the game and sell it in low numbers (only hundreds per state)

BUT the NOA release won't be a true translation, instead they'll give us dig dug with a graphic hack. and minor story plots mixed between each level sold as mother 3, in japan it will be known as "Mother 3: USA"

I caught onto some of mother 3's morals like not letting technology consume us I didn't catch onto the whole magypsy thing you were talking about. Mother 3 does have some interesting things, I almost thought that the way there was no money was almost like communism but I just thought that it was because Tazmily was such a communal and sharing town. Now I don't think Mother 3 isn't getting released because of these morals, and values but probably because the GBA would be just about dead by the time it was done being translated, the DS had been out and by 2006 the GBA had been getting its last few games.
