That EarthBound copy that was being sold for $6000 didn't sell, but now I see another one on eBay for $3000. The VGA score this time is 85 as opposed to 90 last time. I wonder if it's the same one with a different score. Or did someone really buy the last one for $4000 outside of eBay and this is another one?

Also, in the last few months I've noticed carts being listed for far over $100, this time last year most loose carts were in the $65-$90 range and spiked around the holiday season but never came back down.

It's interesting watching this kind of stuff. Heck if I can make any sense of it though :P

I always was upset that EarthBound carts were so outragously priced.
A lot of sellers price the carts really high (like $120) so that no one
buys them. It makes it hard for newcomers to get into the series as
to legally play the game you need to dish out around $80. Fans of the
series might be willing to pay that much but most people won't be.

:( It makes me extremely sad to see that cart prices are so incredibly high, I'm lucky I got one when they went for low prices :D

Looks like it's a completely different copy. I ran a quick eye over both of them and found two blemishes on the silver grade that don't appear to exist on the gold one. See here.

This is one of the reasons why someone would make a reproduction cart of EarthBound. I just want to play the game on my SNES without spending 80+ bucks on it. :|

I think the reason prices have remained high is due to the fact that more EarthBound fans have been buying the cartridges, this means that less of them are reappearing on the market, causing prices to go up. Either that or maybe the world is finally ready for EarthBound so it's in high demand by more than just collectors and fans.

Hiro, Apparently in the next Issue of Nintendo Power they're going o reveal a new game that hasn't been spoken of anywhere yet. There is a .000000000000000000001% chance of this game being a Mother Compilation.
