If nintendo ever decides to make a new mother game and nintendo of america stops being gay and brings it here, would it be called earthbound 2 since mother 3 is technically earthbound 2 but was never made in america?

I believe Nintendo is well aware we know it's mother 3, so they'd probably keep it mother 3, plus that would save money on translating the title screen. *cough*endingscreen*cough* just like I believe if they ever released mother, they wouldn't call it earthbound zero, they'd call it mother

I entirely disagree. I doubt they'd actually call it MOTHER. There's a reason they didn't keep that name in the first place. I believe the title MOTHER for a video game seemed less marketable to the American children. And even if they changed their mind on that idea, there's a thing called consistency.

I think if MOTHER was ever released, they'd make up some sort of name like "EarthBound: Beginnings" or "EarthBound: Giygas' First Strike!" or "EarthBound: Giygas Wages War" or whatever they can come up with that is a take off of "The War Against Giygas!"

I'm just speaking of the trends that other video game companies followed. I was thinking if they do put the name earthbound, it will be in subtitle.

So let me get this straight. If all three EarthBound games were released in america it would go as follows mother, EarthBound, Mother 3. I personally like the name EarthBound than mother but thats just me, EarthBound sounds more like the name of a game, but the name mother actually had a history to it. I think maybe they should call it Mother, EarthBound, EarthBound 2. Its really hard to call mother 3 EarthBound 2 since I've grown so used to calling it Mother 3. Its really hard since I think I can go either way, even though I just said otherwise.

I got plently of examples. but think just one will do. final fantasy 3 in the USA was final fantasy 6 in japan. but they didn't call final fantasy 7 final fantasy 9. as everyone who played the game already knew it was 6 and 2 was 4. sure they could have changed the name from 7 to 4, but why. when the fans of the game already knew 3 was 6

then again to defend you. dragon warrior is still called dragon warrior in the us. so I guess it could go either way.
