Something I haven't shared with the forum much but I am a big fan of astronomy. I've been a big fan since I was a little kid and I'm always looking forward to any future astronomical event. One happens on June 5 (in North America anyway) when the Earth and Venus are in perfect alignment. If you have solar glasses you can see it as a black dot crossing over the sun.

I don't know if there's anyone else here as into astronomy as I am but if you are feel free to share anything interesting you find. Future events, neat pics, anything really. Hopefully I'm not the only one into this stuff.

I love astronomy! I'm not nearly as into it as I used to be, but I still love it.

Did you see the super moon and/or meteor shower this past Saturday?

Edit: Thanks for the link. I just purchased some eclipse shades on ebay.

I heard about the super moon and I was dying to see it. I had my telescope all set up and everything. The clouds covered everything, you couldn't see a single star. Hopefully by June I won't have this problem.

It was fairly cloudy for me too unfortunately, but I did get to see it. It was so bright that the sky appeared slightly blue around it!

But due to the bright moon, and the clouds, I didn't catch any of the meteor shower. I can't wait until June now, thanks for posting about this!

I read that there is going to be an annular solar eclipse on May 20. I wanted to go but i live in an eastern state and the eclipse is only visible from the western part of the North America. The best view is from the mid-western states like Texas. If I had the money I would've bought a plane ticket, but I really can't afford something like it. I still have the Venus event to look forward too, but if only...

Well anyway I found a better link for the Venus event. It simulates the Venus transit from any location on Earth, it's worth a try.
