Post subject: Hidden stuff in Mother 3. :D  Posted: Tue Mar 20, 2012 1:31 am |

Use this code- 0200B578 to find things via the 'Cheats...' in VBA while using mother 3. This is what I found so far.(Note, that while I do know quite a bit about the series, I've only gotten up to Chapter 2 in the game, so I may say some things in the game are unused because I haven't seen them yet.)
A1- Trapped inside wall of Yado Hotel, 2 Pigmasks can be seen. A2- Same, but different spot on the wall. A3- Exactly the same as A2. A4- May be a different floor, girl with a Happy Box can be seen. A5- Looks like a house from Old Tazmilly, before the Pigmask invasion. Still trapped in wall. A6- A much more modern looking home, you can walk ion the walls here. You can interact with 'A happy Teddy Bear'. A7- Another part to what I guess might be the same house based on the design. Can't walk on walls here. A resident of Tazmilly can be seen watching television. A8- A pink room, a small girl and an adult can be seen in addition to another Happy Box. Same music plays throughout A's 6-9 A9- A yellow room, not much to see because of the fact that you get teleported to the black area above the ceiling. A10- A mountainous area. 'With my father in law' plays here, suggesting it may be (or may have been) a part of Chapter 1. A11- Nighttime mountainous area where Hinawa was presumably killed. Same music as A10 plays, making this seem a bit odd. A12- Same music and area, but a different side of the mountain. A13- Area with the crumbled cliff in Chapter 1 that is assessable after defeating the Reconstructed Caribou and chasing off the Pigmasks. Only one problem, Your on the outside of the area where the trees are. A14- Exact same as A12. A15- Magenta colored screen, 'Mind of a Thief' plays here along with some nighttime ambient sounds. You can't move at all.
B1- Crumbled area made of red brick. 'Oshoe Castle' plays here. B2- 'Oshoe Castle' plays, but all that is visible is some red sprites at the bottom left that are presumably from the same area as B1. B3- Pink trees can be seen here, as some strange trance-like music plays in the background... Possibly Itoi's dreaded 'Tanehineri Islands' scene? B4- Above the same place as B3. Same creepy music plays. B5- Same area, what appears to be the top of a green Magysappy house is seen on thebottom left. B6- An area with a large fenced around white house. No music plays here (Good thing, think we had enough of the other music) B7- Outside of Oshoe Castle, no music. You can walk everywhere, the color is different, and there are a few unreadable signs. You can't enter the castle, but there are some climbable Wall-Staples. B8- A dark area that you can easily walk around in. No music plays. B9- Standing on lava near one of the 7 needles. Some more music that I've never personally heard plays. B10- Same as A10. B11- Same as A11. B12- Same as A12. B13- Same as A13. B14- Same as A14. B15- Same as A15.
C1- a shade of blue resembling grass at night covers the ground, you can't see your character. 'Mind of a Thief' plays here. C2- Light blue, same music plays. C3- Trapped in the wall again, but in an old house with a cracked wall, a Happy Box, and what appears to be a newspaper. Familiar music that I can't think of the name of plays here. C4- What appears to be the same area, uses the same music. Jail cells can be seen. C5- The same jail, same music, but the newspaper has been replaced with a pink card of some sort. You can see Alec for a brief moment om the bottom right. C6- Similar area, but this one has Wess inside of it. C7- Another cell, a man with a Rainbow-striped hat is watching a Happy Box. C8- Same as B8. C9- Overlooking scene snapshot from Chapter 1. You can see the mountains. C10- C15 are same as A10- A15
D1- Edge of crossroads in Tazmilly at night while "Mind of a Thief' plays. You will be stuck on a slope that you can't normally get onto. D2- Dark area with presents you can walk through. At the bottom, there's a present you can actually get that contains 'Sincerity Dumplings'. D3- Another dark area with no music. Only one present, that you can't open. D4- Yet another, two presents you can't open. D5- Same as D4, but the presents are in different areas. D6- Same, 6 unopenable presents. D7- A scene unfolds with words that may be between Lucas, Duster, and Kumatora at the end of a chapter. The background is reminiscent of the 'Coffee Break' background from Mother 2. D8- Dark area with 1 unopenable present. D9- A battle-like background is shown, then you can see the top left corner of a room where the DCMC are hanging out. D10- Dark room with no music and nothing in it at all. D11- D15 are the same as the rest of these #'s, they will be left out of the next ones.
E1- Trapped in a house with the maggysappy house music playing at a slower pace. E2- The scene in chapter 2 where the Pigmask Blimp drops bombs onto Oshoe Castle, with no sound. You can exit any way you please. E3- An animated cloudy scene that can be walked in. No music. E4- Trapped in a wall of a clockwork looking place. It appears to be quite rusted, brown vines everywhere. Music plays, but I don't know what it's called. E5- The Interpreter flying on the same background from E3. E6- The Armageddon ending with no sound. You can do the 'The End?' thing, with sound by the way. E7- Same, but starts with Salsa and Samba leaving. E8- Instant warp to the 'The End?" screen. E9- Same as C9. You can bring up the start menu here, no music.
F1- Dark area, 2 unopenable presents. F2- Completely black screen, bring up pause menu and then you can look around, you won't find anything though. F3- 16 melodies playing on a slightly glitchy black background that changes after a while to different colors. Nothing happens after the song ends. F4- A peach colored open area room like the dark ones earlier with nothing in it. F5- Claus's memory (multiple scenes) F6- Twins get into a fight (flashback) F7- Twins with mom (flashback)

That's pretty intresting. These can be found without the codes (Not including the unused stuff) right?

Okay that's what I thought. To be honest I didn't look threw all of these  . Did you know the flowers in MOTHER 3 by Hinawa's grave change each visit?

I see you're doing things like A10 and such. Hexadecimal goes like this:
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F
So after A9 comes AA, not A10, which is a MUCH different (and much higher) number.
I've noticed people playing with this code not fully understanding how hex works, so hopefully this will help.

I've been going through these numbers in my spare time, too. In the SM.net forums, somebody did the math and figured out that there are 65,000 + numbers in 16-bit (four digits) hexadecimal. At 30 seconds each, that's over 541 hours of searching. yeesh... I thought I was the only one interested in what each of these values bring up, but evidently I'm not.  We should make a collective effort so that we don't end up doing the same values twice... Because I've covered all the values from 0000 to 0085 or something, plus some of the 00A1-00FF values you have there. The 0A15 and some of those are totally new to me, though; I haven't got anywhere near that far yet  (there isn't an A15, so I'm pretty sure it bumped it to the next digit) Cool stuff! Also, this is a useful cheat called the walk through walls code (0200C492:FFFF). You can explore some of the "trapped in wall" areas with that.  It's been really helpful with my searches... Man, you're on Chapter 2... You have a really good game ahead of you, RainbowDash. Enjoy it, because you can only play a game for the first time once.  Some of the unfamiliar locations you mentioned will make more sense when you've seen them in the game. But I won't spoil it for you. Anyway, best of luck!
