As you are probably already aware (and also SPOILERS . . . kind of) it is possible to kill Giygas in the GBA Mother 2 using poison instead of the usual method.

Has anyone actually done this *without* modifying the stats of the characters to make the attacks survivable? I've only seen videos with ridiculous amount of hacked stats.

Does anyone know exactly how the poison damage works, and how much HP is required to "kill" each form of Giygas (or if you just end up killing the first form)? I tried doing it myself, and eventually ran out of supplies, and I'd like to know if it is at all feasible.

Sorry if I'm repeating some old threads, but all I could find in my searching was just speculation and downright misinformation ("Giygas has 9999^9999 HP").

EDIT: By the way, I have seen the topic that was on this site, and the associated video. Thing is, I saw how much damage Giygas had taken from poison in that video, and had poisoned him for *way* more damage in my attempt, to no avail, sparking my curiosity.

EDIT 2: Okay, so I was poisoning the form that you have to pray. Apparently you poison Giygas before that, when you would still be dealing normal damage. WHAT.

I tried once, but I was poisoning the wrong form of Giygas, so I failed. I could try, once I find my GBA SP and my flash cart, and I'll report my success or failure.

Yeah, I actually *just* figured that out before coming here again, while watching the background of the video again, and I tested it successfully.

(The only other one I know is the rock candy one, and something about bread crumbs and Pippi in Mother 1. Anyone know any others?)

ARGH!!!

My closest attempt was this:
Ness had 273 HP and 1 PP, and everyone else was dead. Ness defended, as usual, but then Gyiyg used his thunder attack. It bounced off Ness and hit Gyiyg, and then guess what?

Porky appears!

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

No matter how many times I reload my state, he keeps doing thunder! Argh, now I'll have to go back to my state at the very beginning of the battle! EFF YOU, FRANKLIN BADGE!!!

EDIT: Reloaded state and used a Snake Bag. Guess what? Gyiyg used a different attack! EFF YES!!! Now let's take down this son of a bee! *time passes and Gyiyg dies from poisoning* BOO-YAH!

Yeah, I just left the Franklin Badge with Escargo Express when I did this. I actually thought (when I was poisoning the wrong form) that the damage Giygas was taking from lightning was throwing off the poison damage somehow.

When I actually poison the right form, though, it's just convenient to not have that possibility. The great thing is that this glitch makes fighting Giygas have a new element to it, so I'll do it again and again now!

Oh, and another weird thing: every time I do this, it says that Lily's party (Lily is my four-letter version of Paula) gets 0 experience. All but one time Ness has been alive and well, and the one time he was just paralyzed.

That's strange. O_o

And now I can't get it to do that again.

This bug is weirder than I thought. (Or maybe it was something else causing the problem.)

Probably just a glitch of some sort.
