Post subject: 100% Item Run - How should I prove it? Posted: Mon Mar 08, 2010 2:53 am |

I'm thinking of doing one huge playthrough of all three MOTHER games and getting EVERY item possible in all three games - 1/128 items, easy items, everything. However, I need a way to prove that I have accomplished this. Taking pictures is obviously not good enough, since I could make them myself. Suggestions would be welcome, since all I can find are ways NOT to validate it.
(I have already gotten most of the items in MOTHER 1, but they're pictures, since I can't find a way to record a video using Jnes. The problem is that I'm also trying to do my Level 99 run at the same time, so I don't want to restart.)
I'm posting this here instead of Starmen.net because 1) I don't want this shot down for looking like I want a badge or something and 2) I don't want it to go horribly off topic.

The Fraps trial only records 30 seconds, but the full thing is only 30 bucks. The WeGame recorder is pretty nice. http://www.wegame.com

Um... Good luck with that. As for proving it, I can't really help you.

It sounds like an interesting idea. I could see this working but at the same time, this could also be implemented on Ustream if you wanna do something like that and have it take a while. That's just my thoughts on it. You can also record each broadcast so it could prove it also. Give it a go if you can muster the viewers to watch plus time to do it live.

the way I think about it. why do you need proof? (I've been educated the reason we should do things is for ourselves. to impress ourselves. once you accomplish this, you've proven to yourself you did it, that should be enough)
EDIT:
I guess what I'm trying to say is, we all already love you because you're a fan. you're already accepted as one of us. because you are a fan. I just hope your not doing this for acceptance. because you're already accepted as one of us.

The way I've seen people do it in the past (and I've done it a few times) was to take a picture with a digital camera of your EB game in your SNES hooked up to your TV with a clear view of the win screen naming the item you won. I can see how that's pretty impossible with EB0 and almost possible with MOTHER 3, so long as people believe you haven't tampered with anything. Doing it all on ustream sounds like a good idea, but I guess you're already mostly through EB0.
Whatever you decide to do, there will always be a few people out there who will doubt your achievement. Remember Mato's glitched up EB cart that gave each party member max stats? He's not the type of guy to lie about something like that, yet there were nonbelievers, so he provided a picture of his setup that showed the EB cart in the SNES hooked up to the TV. Still some people refused to believe it was an actual glitch and not a Game Genie code (even when you could clearly see he was not using a Game Genie in the picture), so I agree with kyoo and say that you should do it for yourself and not worry about trying to prove it.
I'll be rooting for you!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
Poe, I would have done exactly what you suggested for EB if it weren't for the fact that I don't own EB - I don't even own an SNES, and I do not have the means to get one now or in the forseeable future. Emulating is the only way I can play these games, and is the reason why I'm concerned that no one will believe this. I thought about taking pics or videos of my computer screen that showed the emulator window (to prove that it wasn't just made in MS Paint or something), especially for repeat items, but that's probably not good enough.
If I could find a flash cart and get M3 to work on it, I would certainly do it that way.
As for EB0, I did hope that pics/vids of the emulator screen would be good enough, since I don't know that any codes for EB0 exist, much less for items. And believe me, if I had the resources and knowledge to hack into EB0 (or EB and M3 for that matter), I'd have done so a LONG time ago.
