Alright. Recently I finished eb0, and I've played EB already, and I'm ready to play Mother 3. (yay! :) ) With eb0, I know that NoA went to a lot of work to take out anything that could be REMOTELY offensive, eg. Smokey the Crow. Same for Earthbound, like Magicant Ness. But with Mother 3, I have no idea what kind of content it has. Since it doesn't look like it'll get an ESRB rating any time soon, I want to ask all of you who've finished the game about the content of Mother 3.

Here are the rules:
1. Tell me what rating you would give the game using the ESRB scale (E for Everyone, M for Mature, etc.), and say why. (eg. 'For crude humor, innuendo, profanity, mild violence, all of those phrases that show up on ESRB boxes that apply to Mother 3). Personal comments regarding how the content affects the game would be appreciated as well. :)
2. Please, No Spoilers. If character X commits suicide at the end, and there is a lot of blood and gore, DON'T say that. I may become attached to character X, and I will be spoiled when I play the game. Instead, please say, "violence including blood and gore."
3. I'm torn about giving examples. If absolutely necessary, asterisks and the like are always fair game for profanity. This is a family-friendly forum, so go easy if you want to show an example of, say, innuendo.

I really hope I'm not coming across as a prude or anything. I just don't want to be happily playing along when suddenly WHOA... I so didn't think that would be in a Nintendo game. I've heard rumors of questionable content in Mother 3, so I figured I would be better off asking first. Thank you to everyone who helps me solve this dilemma. :)

I think it would get a teen rating if they kept it the way Mato and the rest of the crew altered it. it deals with some serious content in some places of the game, that I feel little kids might not be able to handle (some little kids, it depends on how their parents raised them)

I would say it would either get an E10 rating or a T rating. There is some minor profanity in the game but nothing major. It also has some mature themes and things in it that might not be considered apropriate for everyone.

E10+ or T is what I would go with too. Mild swearing happens rarely; it's stuff they allow on prime time TV these days, so it's nothing major. There are some things that happen in the game that are a little upsetting, but anyone over 12 should be able to handle it. Some violence, a little more than what is shown in EB, but nothing graphic.

I just know if I was a little 10 year old, the things I saw in that game probably would have made me cry, and I'm not talking about the sad parts, because those made me cry and I'm 28, I'm talking about the violent parts.... then again, my mom didn't let me watch Tom and Jerry because she thought it was too violent for me :P( I was a really sensitive boy)

but as a parent I wouldn't let my Daughter play this game unless she was at least 11 or 12, for the reasons that would have made me cry when I was young.
