my best friend of at the moment was moving away and he gave it to me as a gift to remember him by (it wasn't his game though. he stole it from another friend, to give it to me). best game ever! was a true addict. and think of the game so fanatical. one might think it was my religion. I was a new human, born once again, after I beat giygas. all thanks to my friend who moved. all thanks to him being a thief.

I've known Ness since Super Smash Bros. on the N64, but Earthbound was just something I kept hearing about and never played. Then, sometime in 2008 I heard about Mother 3... I can't quite remember where I heard about it, but I think chuggaconroy might have something to do with it.

Anyways, I found that the game was translated, bought a blank GBA cartridge, MiniSD card, downloaded the game on it and played through it on my SP. Haven't played a game that great since Paper Mario 2.

Now I want to play Earthbound, and have another great gaming experience.

I didn't unlock Ness in Smash Bros.64 until last month.

I first read about Mother in that 1990 issue of Nintendo Power and thought it sounded really awesome. I was already a fan of RPGs thanks to Dragon Warrior (once again, thanks to it being a freebie sent out by Nintendo Power), but a modern setting with psychic kids was a new twist.

I forgot about it when it wasn't released, but later when NP started having articles about EarthBound, I was absolutely enthralled. I harassed my poor mother into driving me to the "local" game shop (~25 miles away) so I could get it on the first day. Sure, it was $70 of my hard-earned paper route money, but that (and Final Fantasy III) was perhaps the best $70 I ever spent.

Our family actually happened to be @ our local video store when it first came out. I played it a little bit and my mom liked it so much she bought it. It actually took a month to get the hang of it. So basically almost right away.

really? I thought most of us got introduced to earthbound from the great snes game. or even some of us from the NES game before it. I've always thought that a lesser % of earthbound fans were people who found it through ssb. and... .
...
am I wrong. did most people get introduced to this game through ssb? it would be nice to know... I've always just assumed that most of us were old time fans. but then i realize not everyone here is in their 20's to 30's (I'm 28) and some of you are even in your early teens (maybe even younger) is it possible that a higher % of the fans are newcomers, who never got the joy of playing the game on the actual snes? that makes me sad to think about. it saddens me even more now, that this game is not out for virtual console. all the fans being forced to use emulation for all 3 games. that's pathetic. *almost cry's thinking about how unfair it must be for all the new younger fans*

before now, I've only been able to think about is how unfair it is to me (and old time fans like me). but now that i see it from a different point of view. maybe I should buy a few more post cards. and ask my friends to send them to japan. I mean... who knows ... if it will help.... we gotta try something. something that will make earthbound available for all fans of all ages. so we aren't forced into illegal piracy. for old fans as well as new fans, we all deserve earthbound, the entire world deserves earthbound. I'm now very interested in everyones responses to this thread.

wow after reading what you wrote mr saturn, right after hearing what Murcielo said, my heart is touched deeply. and now I have a very broken heart (broken by Nintendo). thanks for opening my eyes mr.saturn.
