How Did That Enemy Get There?
Today’s song is Fanfare of the Noble Vase. This is the song that plays in MOTHER 3 when you get the Noble Spittoon or however you spell it.
This always felt out of place to me. It really reminds me of Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for some reason. Oh well.
Today’s song is Mini-Porky's Entrance. I liked this tiny song in MOTHER 3 a lot, I’m not sure why. But for some reason it really reminded me of Pokey’s (Porky’s whatever ) music in EarthBound. Maybe it’s the instruments or something.
And the weird games you play after this song are fun too I always like to bop the hard hat guy with the hammer.
Today’s song is Weak Opponent. I love this song. Loooove it. I don’t know why, it’s so simple and repetitive.
I remember when I first heard it, I said, “Aww, it would’ve been cool if it had been the real song.” My friend was like, “What song?” At the time, I couldn’t remember the name of the song I meant, but it was Tequila (right?) and I remembered it from this, of course
Today’s song is Pulling of the Needles. This plays during Chapters 7 and 8 of MOTHER 3. This is a case of another song that I feel does the job it needs to but it isn’t really particular special. But it’s possible I feel that way because I had to test Chapter 7 so much that I heard it to the point that it lost all meaning. Kind of like if you repeat a word over and over a lot in a row, it’ll suddenly seem to mean nothing
Today’s song is A Good Night’s Rest. Hmm, not sure what to say about this really.
One thing I was always fond of back when I played games non-stop was seeing what each RPG used as the “sleeping at the inn” song – every game has their own little melody. But EarthBound’s isn’t anything like the other standard sleep songs. But it’s cool anyway. And it’s like the YOU WON song too.
Today’s song is Roving Tank. This is probably one of my more favorite songs from EarthBound Zero, though I know it’s honestly not that special, at least not compared to the other songs in the game.
What I really remember about this song though is that way back in 1998 and earlier, a Japanese MIDI of this found its way onto English sites, and since the EB0 ROM hadn’t been dumped yet, somehow people believed this was a song from the upcoming EarthBound 64. It took a while to kill that rumor. But people sure were excited by the rumor, I remember that.
Today’s song is Memory of Life. This is the final song played in MOTHER 3, and possibly the final song played in the entire series.
When you got to this final screen and heard this final song, how did it make you feel? For me, it felt like a good soothing rest after all this crazy stuff that just happened. I kind of do hope there’ll be more MOTHER stuff to come someday though.
Today’s song is What a Great Picture!. Gotta say, I like the song once it starts (it’s even my cell phone ringtone for unknown numbers) but the intro music makes me think “oh god please just let me have a fast forward button” because that’s when that crazy photoman falls down and wastes your time.
But that aside, this is one of those main EB songs that will always be remembered. For good or bad
Today’s song is Danger. This MOTHER 3 song plays in the last area of Chapter 1, though you can revisit it in later chapters if you want.
Anyway, more than anything, this song reminds me of those evil trees that trick you into thinking they’re inanimate trees but then come after you and fight you and then explode your face. Why do trees even explode? Especially the trees in all three MOTHER games? Crazy.
Today’s song is Winters Wake Up Call. Although it’s simple, I really like this song. It’s nice and relaxing and makes me think of cold, wintery air. It’s amazing how much music they stuffed into EarthBound. They even made little things like this that weren’t necessary at all. But they add such nice touches to the game
