Yesterday was Monday, which meant a new edition of EarthBound Central Live! This time we shared some more recent EarthBound news, took a look at some memories from the old days, shared a lot of reader e-mails, and then played a Pokey-filled hack while doing Q&A with everyone: Thanks to everyone who came by and chatted with us, it was a lot of fun! If you missed it, here are just some of the ...Read More »
Chaos Rush recently posted on the Romhacking.Net forums about a color restoration patch for the MOTHER 1 side of MOTHER 1+2 on the GBA: As some of you may know, a lot of GBA games have brightened, washed out colors in order to make it easier to see on an unlit GBA. This is a patch for *Mother 1+2* for GBA that restores the colors back to what they were on NES (just the Mother 1 side of the ROM, I...Read More »

About four years ago I posted about why I translated the MOTHER 1 side of MOTHER 1+2 but not the MOTHER 2 side – basically, MOTHER 2 and EarthBound have a really messy text system that would’ve taken me forever to untangle. Jeffman’s been plugging away at the problem for the past few years, though, and finally things are looking up! If you recall, I did a basic menu translation f...Read More »
A few years ago I released a ROM patch that translates the MOTHER 1 part of the GBA MOTHER 1+2 release – you can check it out here. After releasing it, I got a lot of questions about translating the MOTHER 2 side too, but I explained that it would take a LOT of time and work and that I’d prefer to let someone else take on the challenge. For the past few years since that post, an EarthB...Read More »
Longtime fans of Starmen.Net and/or EarthBound Central probably recall the name Stephen Georg/xfis – he’s the guy behind so many amazing EarthBound projects over the years. He was even part of Fobbies Are Borange, which was a radio play of EarthBound, as well as the EarthBound Zero spinoff, Loids Are Not Christmas. The thing about Loids Are Not Christmas was that Stephen hadn’t r...Read More »
The other day a friend living in Mexico messaged me with this: so, i got a Reproduction Cartdrige of Earthbound, its the Earthbound Zero (without the Zero Logo) and my Nes is dirty, is a long time that i had not use my console and i got this glitch He wanted to know what the deal was and how this was even possible… so here’s a quick explanation! The other day I posted an old MOTHER 1+2 interview that EarthBound fan “Iwant” had translated into English (see here). Well here’s a new MOTHER 1+2 interview translation, this time with Kouichi Ohyama, MOTHER 2’s art director! His/Her MOTHER feeling ~ Kouichi Ohyama’s opinion~ Here’s an excerpt: In truth, I still do not understand very well this popularity sur...Read More »
I sometimes wondered if different versions of MOTHER 2 might play faster or slower than other versions – and then I stumbled upon this Japanese video that compares the walking speed of the GBA MOTHER 2 and the Wii U Virtual Console MOTHER 2. (GBA on top, Wii U on bottom) As you can see, the GBA version has slower walking. I don’t know if that’s because the Wii U’s Super Fam...Read More »
A fan by the name of broomweed has started on a hack of MOTHER 1+2 to make MOTHER 1 very Mr. Saturn-like, as inspired by comments years ago on EB Central! Here’s a description of the project: Hey, you! Do any of the following apply to you: Haven’t played Mother 1 because of the lack of Mr. Saturns in it Always wondered what the Mr. Saturns would be like in Mother 1 Love trying to deci...Read More »
- DJ: From what I’ve gathered I’m pretty sure he still writes copy, so they’re an ad company.
- cosmodos: What does his company even do? Is it actually lucrative? From what I can gather (not knowing Japanese), it’s just his blog, and he...

- Leeaux: Hey I just saw this! Really interesting watch to. Lots of little fun facts.
- Mary: The “behind the scenes” video on how the Ness animation was made is great too. The animators channel is A + Start.
