Unused Enemies in EarthBound Zero
The other day, Nintendo posted a video that showcases a bunch of the content that’ll be in the upcoming Wii U Super Smash Bros game – if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s here. Anyway, there were a few things related to EarthBound in there – the biggest one that wowed a lot of people was when it was revealed that you could take in-game screenshots and draw on them. One of...Read More »
A couple years ago I released a program that randomizes and jumbles up the content in EarthBound so fans can play the game in entirely new ways (see here.) People find it so much fun that now there’s a content randomizer for EarthBound Zero too, courtesy of BBGangZombie! This program can randomly change a bunch of stuff in the NES EarthBound Zero ROM. For example, it will change enemies arou...Read More »
A couple readers have sent in some pictures of the Devil Car enemy from MOTHER 1/EarthBound Zero as it apparently appears in the upcoming Smash Bros. games. I don’t know the source of these or if they’re even legitimate, but I thought I might share them anyway since they look pretty cool regardless: In EarthBound Zero, this name was actually localized to “PsychoCar” to av...Read More »
Longtime fans of Starmen.Net and/or EarthBound Central probably recall the name Stephen Georg/xfis – he’s the guy behind so many amazing EarthBound projects over the years. He was even part of Fobbies Are Borange, which was a radio play of EarthBound, as well as the EarthBound Zero spinoff, Loids Are Not Christmas. The thing about Loids Are Not Christmas was that Stephen hadn’t r...Read More »

A number of prototype EarthBound Zero cartridges have been floating around for years (details here) but recently the authenticity of some of them has come into question. So Sith, Stevesesy, and others have been doing some detective work over the past few months. I’m still not caught up with all the details about this, but most recently they got in contact with Andrew DeRouin, the owner of th...Read More »
Shigesato Itoi’s company’s biggest success is its planners, and one of the many features these planners have is a daily-or-so quote, usually from an interview or something. Anyway, the other day featured a quote from Itoi talking about MOTHER games! Mother’s protagonist is just an average kid, so fleshing out his enemies and the opposition was important in making him a great her...Read More »
A reader named Arthur sent an e-mail a little while back: Chrontendo is a video series of one guy playing all of the games for the NES/Famicom in order of their release. He is on Episode 47 which features Mother 1. He goes into more detail for this game than the average game. The Mother footage starts at 30:45 And here’s the actual video: I always thought this Chrontendo thing was a reall...Read More »
