A little while back a set of EarthBound pogs showed up on eBay. I mentioned that it would be cool to see the old Nintendo Power catalog that listed them, and so “Flit” sent in a scan of said catalog. Here’s the stuff about the EarthBound Pogs: Man, I should’ve gotten some, they were only $5 The most recent set on eBay sold for $255! I’m still confused though; this c...Read More »

EBchamp won the super-rare EarthBound ruler that was on eBay a few weeks back, and he was kind enough to take some more photos of it for the rest of us. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 25%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { ...Read More »

With all this crazy EarthBound merchandise hitting the auction block lately, here’s another addition: a VGA-certified new copy of EarthBound for $6000. If you don’t know what the VGA is, see here. I kind of doubt it’ll actually sell for $6000, maybe someone can make a better offer. The last new copy of the game sold for over $1000, I dunno if the VGA OK is worth an extra $5000. ...Read More »

That auction for EarthBound ruler that hit eBay earlier this week just ended. I managed to catch the last 30 seconds after someone mentioned it was almost over. It went to 305 or so, then suddenly it jumped to about 715 just seconds after that. It ended at $776.47. I dunno who won it, but congratulations, you have a super-rare piece of EarthBound merchandise and history. Just don’t let any ...Read More »

Okay, I think an EarthBound merchandise miracle is underway or something. All this cool, really rare stuff showing up every few days for weeks in a row The latest rare EarthBound merchandise to hit the auction block is a set of EarthBound pogs! I never understood the appeal of pogs, even back in the day, but when they were popular Nintendo Power made several sets that you could order through th...Read More »

Update: It’s been confirmed that this is the MOTHER 3 Franklin Badge and not the MOTHER 1 Franklin Badge. While the M1 badges are unbelievably rare, the M3 ones are pretty hard to come by too, especially by themselves. When MOTHER was released in Japan, a bunch of strategy guides flooded the market. Possibly as a way to stand out from the crowd, the official strategy guides had a contest you...Read More »

eNot too long after those EarthBound promotional materials were recently auctioned off, a fellow by the name of Starman 99 contacted me and mentioned he happened to have one of the super-rare EarthBound rulers that were also used as promotional items back in 1995. Luckily for collectors, he decided to put it up for auction here! This marks the first time I’ve ever seen one of these actually ...Read More »

A good while ago, I posted about a Saturn Valley music box that showed up on Yahoo Auctions Japan. Well, resident collector man LucasTizma snagged it shortly after I posted about it. It recently arrived, and he was cool enough to make a video of it playing: It’s a little underwhelming I think, but still kind of neat. I definitely agree that something like Eight Melodies in a music box would...Read More »

The auction for that EarthBound Zero prototype cartridge that recently popped up on eBay has ended, and the final price was approximately $1,187.56. It sounds like good ol’ Roo was the winner this time around, meaning this is probably the first time someone active in the fan community has gotten ahold of one of these prototypes. Roo, if you remember, is the guy who made that cool EarthBoun...Read More »
