The question’s come up a lot since I released my MOTHER 1+2 translation the other day, so I should try to explain why it would be a lot of work to fully translate the MOTHER 2 side of the game too. (more…) ...Read More »

If you’re playing the Mother 1+2 translation I just released and run into any bugs, post about them here, it’ll be easier for me to keep track of them all when I go to make an updated patch someday. The currently known-for-sure problems are: #buglist li { margin-bottom:20px; } Choosing the fastest text speed in battle will make it say it’s the second-fastest speed on the file-lo...Read More »

It’s taken quite a while, but at last my MOTHER 1+2 translation patch is done and ready for downloading! Check out the page for it here: The MOTHER 1+2 Fan Translation You can download the patch there of course, and you can also download all the tools, files, and source code I used to create the patch. With these, you can create translations into other languages or create text-based hack...Read More »

My retranslation of the MOTHER 1 side of MOTHER 1+2 is nearing completion, and when I do release the patch I want the MOTHER 2 side to at least have basic menu translations. So after a bit of work I think I’ve gotten that taken care of. If you have time, it’d help a lot if people could play through the MOTHER 2 part of the game with this beta patch. Mostly I want to see if anything...Read More »

Over the last few days, I managed to pretty much finish off the rest of the to-do hacking for the MOTHER 1 portion of MOTHER 1+2. I might still need to fix some bugs and maybe add an intro screen, but I’m hopefully done with hacking the game. Now I just need to polish the text up, do lots of testing, and package everything up nice and neat, possibly with some extra goodies like we did when w...Read More »

Been a busy week this week, but today I managed to get a lot of stuff done on this project, so a lot of stuff’s been crossed off the to-do list. First, I made some suggested font changes and created this, which I hope will be the final font now: If you think any of the international characters still need tweaking, let me know soon! I’m not sure, but I think I might’ve fixed the ...Read More »

Managed to find time to finish a few more things from the translation to-do list. This time I finished the font and added lots of characters for foreign languages, mostly so that it’ll be easier for people to translate the game into their languages with font support already in place. The naming screen is a huge pain to hack, so having it all done like this will save future translators a ton ...Read More »

Got a few more big things crossed off of the MOTHER 1 translation to-do list. The most interesting stuff is that I tracked down a lot of loose pieces of text that would’ve been easily missed and that I also bit the bullet and remodeled the character naming screen. I really liked the way the Japanese screen was laid out in the GBA version, but it just didn’t give enough room for the s...Read More »

Over the past few days I managed to get a little bit of stuff done on the M1+2 project, and the to-do list gets smaller and smaller. Some of the recent stuff I got done is: (more…) ...Read More »

Got some time to work on some more stuff today. First, I finished up the selection screen stuff thanks to a few helpful site visitors. Many thanks, I’ll be sure to add you guys to the readme! Now I can cross those off of the to-do list. Next on the list was font-related stuff. I’ve been dreading this for a long time, but I figured it was finally time to deal with it. I’ve alway...Read More »
