A fan by the name of Chris sent me an e-mail about a video game-themed restaurant/bar in Canada called “EXP”. It has Triforce Burgers, Super Smash Nachos, and all sorts of other stuff. It even has “Mach Pizza Fries”: If you’re in Vancouver, check it out and let me know how it is! The website and restaurant info is here. ...Read More »

One of the neat things the Starmen.Net community does is something called “Fantography”. It’s basically just taking photos of EarthBound stuff or EarthBound-inspired stuff. You can check out the entire Fantography section here. I was curious to see if this was something Japanese fans do too… and I quickly stumbled upon this gallery of MOTHER 2-related food photos sent in by...Read More »

For a while now I’ve had pictures of these tasty-looking EarthBound cookies on my hard drive: I don’t know where I got these pics, but it makes me want to eat them. The cookies, not the images. One time I tried to make EarthBound cookies too. It didn’t turn out so well. ...Read More »

(Link) I’m not very fond of cheese, but even I think this looks and sounds awesome Anyone else have any EarthBound recipes? ...Read More »

In the Japanese version of MOTHER 3, a sign in the desert area recommends a restaurant that sells taiyaki and yakisoba. Intrepid reporter Izumi visited the restaurant a long while back and posted this about it: I went to Naniwaya, the cafe mentioned by Tomato a few posts up. In M3 Itoi points out that Naniwaya is famous for taiyaki (sweet cakes filled with red bean paste, shaped like tai, sea br...Read More »

Last year there was an odd contest by Vans and Jones Soda. Rather than try to explain it, I’ll just link to the post I made about it last May. Basically, one of the entries was based on EarthBound. It’s old news by now that the EarthBound entry won first place, as you can see on the official site. The fact it won by such a huge margin is really cool… but does anyone know what ha...Read More »

March 10th, 2010 | EarthBound, Food, Interviews, Itoi, Uncommon Knowledge | 19 Comments

I’m not sure what magazine this is from, but it’s from way back when MOTHER 2 was released in Japan. Basically, the magazine people made some Strawberry Tofu for Itoi to try, and he said: This is really something! It has a profound flavor that makes me feel sad. (laugh) I thought this would be something an American with an unusual understanding of foreign cultures might make, but this...Read More »

This isn’t very well-known outside of Japan, but one day, while on a fishing trip, Shigesato Itoi visited a small curry shop near Mt. Fuji and was wowed by the curry they had there. His praise made the curry famous across the country, and thus “Itoriki Curry” was born, and an entire business built up around it apparently. Apparently this Itoriki Curry uses Japanese saké to get...Read More »
