Itoi MOTHER 2 Stream Over
Last year, during the special MOTHER 2 event I assume, Nintendo Dream interviews Shigesato Itoi about a number of different topics, including MOTHER 3, the Nintendo 64 version of the game, fans outside of Japan, MOTHER 4, and more. Nintendo Dream: I see. Even though Mother 3 hasn’t been released overseas yet, they know about Lucas from SSB… Shigesato Itoi: But recently when I heard from foreig...Read More »
Back in 1999, a preview version of the N64 MOTHER 3 was playable at Nintendo’s Spaceworld event. Staffers who worked the booth were given special DCMC shirts, they’re so rare that even 15 years later it’s hard to find any good, concrete info about them. Even pictures are hard to come by! Luckily, one appeared on Yahoo Auctions Japan the other day, and it wound up selling for the ...Read More »
For the past year or so I’ve heard a number of different rumors and stories that someone has acquired a prototype of the Nintendo 64 version of MOTHER 3. I’ve never put much faith in it because it’s never accompanied with pictures or other evidence. Here’s an interesting e-mail from a reader, though: Hello, I was looking at earthbound 64 info because.. eh why not? anyways, ...Read More »
A few years back, OKeijiDragon started working on a documentary video series about big-name video games that wound up canceled. The first video was to be about MOTHER 3 (particularly the Nintendo 64 version)… and the 2012 work-in-progress version of the video is now available for all to see! The video is really information-dense and uses on-screen text rather than a narrator, so it’s ...Read More »
Here’s something I’ve never seen before – EarthBound mentioned in the employee sales binder thing that listed games available during the holiday season of 1995: It’s not much, but EarthBound’s mentioned in there and it uses a sketched version of that swooshy Earth logo – something I’ve never seen before. And come to think of it, I think PoeTrader and I mi...Read More »
A few weeks back, an old interview between Shigesato Itoi and Shigeru Miyamoto from 1999 was translated and posted on Nintendo World Report. Part of the interview covers the topic of MOTHER 3 for the Nintendo 64 and is worth checking out!! Here’s a quick example blurb from Miyamoto, see the article for the full thing: I really hope we get it into a playable state by winter. I look forward to...Read More »
It’s that time again! Lots of mini-updates! Check ’em out! Memories of Deleted Saves Luke Records says: Hello, I just read your anti-piracy Earthbound article and had flashbacks. As a child, my brothers and I played this game constantly. We worked our way to the last battle twice, but both times all of our saves were deleted. We had trouble winning the last battle, and it was usual...Read More »
Many years ago a bunch of us Starmen.Net people put together a petition for EarthBound 64/MOTHER 3 – if you’ve never seen or heard about it, there’s more info here. It was actually our second petition for the game, and I think it was the one Miyamoto mentioned when he said that EarthBound fans are “really solid”. Anyway, the other day the guys at Fangamer were lookin...Read More »
Many years back, before MOTHER 3 for the GBA was released, I went and translated every screenshot of the Nintendo 64 version that I could find and posted all the information here. I didn’t realize I missed a line until a reader named Angela recently sent an e-mail to me: So, in the Earthbound 64 preview trailer, the first line the woman Flints talking to say’s “I have one thing t...Read More »
Over the past few months I’ve heard some very quiet, vague rumblings about a collector getting his hands on a prototype copy of MOTHER 3/EarthBound 64. I’m still VERY skeptical about it all, but here’s what I know and have been told by various sources. Apparently the trail started with a YouTube comment… which already sets off some alarms, but you can see it here: A month ...Read More »
