I saw this on Reddit earlier and had to share it. It’s an old Best Buy ad:
I’ve long hoped to be able to find old store ads like this with EarthBound (and other games) in it, I’m glad to see one finally. What I’m really hoping for is an ad for EarthBound when it was first released.
Anyway, $29.99 for EarthBound was obviously a great deal, but as we’ve previously learned, the price of EarthBound at Best Buy would later drop to a mere $5.99!

I bought my copy of EarthBound for $25 at Toys-R-Us.

The funny thing is, when I bought my current EB cart and a Super Nintendo to play it on, the prices were almost reversed. $80 for the EB cart, $20 for the SNES.

You can get Tommy Boy on DVD for less than that now. It’s only $5.74 on Amazon. Even the Blu-ray is under $12 on Amazon.

When I was a kid, I had no money and couldn’t afford EarthBound at $29.99. Now that I’m an adult, I have money but can’t afford it at the eBay price. Sigh.
