This is pretty old by now, but it’s still pretty neat.
For some reason I think it might’ve been the old Starmen.Net/EarthBound.Net staffer Mars who figured that out about 10 years ago. Maybe I’m remembering wrong though.
This wasn’t intentional, though. Tendas are called Gumis/Gummies in MOTHER 2. It’s just a neat coincidence in EarthBound

If you think about it, it may be intentional that they changed “gummies” to “tendas” to make it fit the number naming scheme.
“gummy” -> “tender” -> “tenda” (Spoken with an accent, i.e. “aww yeah! dat wuz tenda, fo sho!”)
