July 18th, 2009 | Audio Stuff, MOTHER 3
Longtime fan EBisumaru sent this in a while back (and I swear I’ve posted about this before, but I must be getting old):
Hey, it’s EBisumaru, oldbie since like 98 or something. I was PK Hacking for a while, so you might remember me. Anyways, I am the vice president of a student group orchestra at the University of MD that plays exclusively video game music. We did “Oh, Buta Mask!” from Mother 3, which I’m told translates to Pig Mask. Or something. Anyways, our recording is here:
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The rest of our recordings reside at this URL. We’ve done a lot cool stuff, from Tetris to Still Alive to Kirby Super Star to Final Fantasy, so that should be pretty interesting too. Let me know if you’re interested enough to put this on the site.
Gotta say, that’s pretty cool to have a school group that does this kind of stuff

University of Maryland, eh?
I live in Maryland, I wonder if my school band will ever do something this cool…
I wish I was in a band like that. My high school band was just boring.

I’d love the sheet music for that.
awesome stuff!!! i wish my school did stuff like that. and id kill for sheet music, especially for piano.
two words……… f__king awsome. the chrono trigger/cross songs brought back some fond memories.
BEAUTIFUL. Things like this make me miss playing the clarinet. T_T *sob*cry*mope* I love the transititions between songs, it was very well arranged.
Well, as much as I love my own school band and a great instructor who picks great music, I wish we did more video game music, I like these guys. They’ve done some of my favorite songs.

Pretty good!
The brass section is admittedly a bit off-tune at times but I’m just being a little nit-picky (I’m an ex-trumpet/euphonium/tuba player so I can criticize
); it’s still really, really cool to hear Mother 3 music played by a real orchestra.

I played some EB music live at a city summer festival with some friends. Unfortunately, it didn’t get recorded. D:

How cool is this?! Way.
I absolutely love Unfounded Revenge (both original and this version)! It’s sad though to remind myself that my high school band is never going to anything like this. Oh well, at least I can hear someone else doing it!

I used to do the viola and keyboard. What fun times. My joints are too mobile in terms of flexible range.
These guys are pretty awesome. They do free live shows every semester at the University of Maryland. I’ve been to a few, and I have to say, it’s totally worth going to. They’ve played a couple Earthbound selections, so if you’re a fan, they’re a must see!

Nuh uh. This is the first Mother-related thing we’ve done.
I have to add though, that some of the brass just wasn’t hitting the notes, which made it sound like something inbetween a Highschool and junior high band.
“Maybe MOTHER 3(In English stores)……That was a joke, haha, fat chance.” It would be better, but I don’t remember the lyrics before that part. Still Alive & Mother series FTW!
Thats so cool my band would never do anything like that and I play the trumpet and they were very bad but the song is very high for the trumpet

Very sloppy brass section, but I love it.
I maybe major in musical directory, if i do i will start a band like this
I can play Piggy Guys and Audicous march on my French Horn, I’m trying to learn unfounded revende, my whole intire band knows Piggy Guys because I taught one of my firends, and he told everyone, I never bothered to tell them where it was from. There is no sheet music (That I know of) for any of those songs so it is amazing how they can play that that good
