Tips for Buying EarthBound

July 6th, 2009 | EarthBound, Videos

I ran across this Japanese video a while back, it’s a custom MOTHER 2/EarthBound-themed level for LittleBigPlanet for the PS3.

I’d love to see what other EarthBoundy/MOTHER series-stuff people can do with it. I’d try making some stuff myself, but I lack a PS3. The game itself seems to be on sale at Amazon though.

Anyway, anybody else seen any stuff like this or made any stuff like this?

Oh yeah I’ve played some Earthbound levels. Mostly just musical levels of Pollyanna or the Eight Melodies. I’ll have to look for some more.

I never have any idea what’s supposed to be going on when I see this game.

Wow, shows a lot os creativity with the level editor. It seems like you can really go wild. I might get LBP!

rawpower said on Jul. 6, 2009

Man all these people don’t know what’s going on in LBP? It doesn’t really matter. Custom levels have their own story made by the creator. You just get through the level that’s all.

santiagoff said on Jul. 6, 2009

@rawpower: if it’s a game, it should make sense easily by viewing a gameplay video of it. This game doesn’t XD

I don’t own a PS3…but my friend does. And the potential that Little Big Planet has makes my mouth water…

I played around with the game. He has more costumes that I can count, and a majority of them are my creations.

I made Ness, Jeff, and Tony. Also a Giegue, but it’s really no good… and uhh.. it’s based on Morphine’s love it or hate it design. I’d probably make much more, but he’s a very very light fan of EarthBound, and he’d rather his costume selection screen be taken up by other costumes, so I didn’t make too many of them.

I really wanted to make an EarthBound level, but I don’t get enough time to play LBP to do so.

I once had a ton of time, but it was all eaten up by a very big elaborate batman level, that only got 90 percent done. I had started another really big, long project afterward, that was to feature a lot of video game themed sections, and you moved from one to the other seamlessly. Naturally, EarthBound/MOTHER was to be on that list, but I didn’t get that far before removing Ganon’s ear made the entire world I built collapse in on itself. Frustrating stuff indeed. It takes time, skill, and patience to make an actually good level on LBP. I would never leave my house if I actually owned that game…

of course without a proper internet connection, I wouldn’t be able to share my wonderful EarthBound creations with the starmen.net goers… oh well.

…Oh yeah. And one person recognised my Ness costume when I was on my friend’s PS3. Bet he called him the kid from Smash Bros.

Anyhow

I am sooo getting the PSP version of LBP! I want a PS3, and I almost bought one, but then I decided not to, but I still really want LBP. Oh well, I have a PSP, so I’ll get LBP eventually. I am gonna make tons of EarthBound and Mother 3 stuff! (No EarthBound Zero stuff because I haven’t beaten it yet 😉 )

“Earthbound (Mother 2) Tribute” by BigDemarest

Check it out. About 30 min of Earthbound with cameos by some memorable characters.

also twoson
just a question…
can you put EB music in this game?

chao1212 said on Jul. 25, 2009

Hey guys, just letting you know that I’m in the process of making some various Mother themed stuff for LBP. Mainly stickers, like Pigmask symbols, starmen, fobbies, and Mr. Saturns. I had already made them, but LBP has data issues, and I lost them.

@Roido: Yeah, but you have to compose it, using sound objects and stuff, which take up entire levels.

chao1212 said on Jul. 25, 2009

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the level can be found easily (When it comes out) by just searching for EB4LBP.

PSIchopath said on Aug. 9, 2009

For everyone who can’t grasp this game’s goal:

I laugh in your face.

But really, it’s like an old Mario game, just get to the end and collect points while doing it. And, no, you can’t have custom songs unless IT’S THE WHOLE FRIGGING LEVEL.

AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGHGHGHGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

souliscool101 said on Nov. 8, 2009

wow that’s very well made. I love if I had a PS3 and made one my own. Sadly I have a Xbox 360.

I am seriously spaced out today. The first things that came in to my mind at 0:24 were as follows-

1. Hey, it’s Ness’s house!
2. I just realized I am watching a YouTube video.
