Should I fix this for version 1.1 of the MOTHER 3 translation patch or leave it as is?

And yep, it’s possible that a v1.1 patch will be out in the near future. Mostly fixing typos and a few simple bugs. I don’t have plans for any other secret modes or anything though, I can’t even think of anything else to sneak in there anyway :P

POLL: Do what with this line for version 1.1?

I actually noticed this on my first play through of the game and actually took a picture of it but forgot to put it on the forums..I still have the picture somewhere..

Happy Happiest said on Jun. 5, 2009

Never noticed that. Lol.

IWontGetOvertheDam said on Jun. 5, 2009

Tomato, you morin! How did you not notice this? I kid. ;D

Faux said on Jun. 5, 2009

Change it to moran.

Xi said on Jun. 5, 2009

Could you be specific as to what kind of bugs you are referring to?

I still haven’t found the time to sit down and play through Mother 3 yet, and I’m wondering if I should wait for the patch.

Also, Celga just received my Giant Mr. Saturn today in Japan, so anyone who ordered their Giant Mr. Saturns in the second batch should be getting theirs shortly.

There’s a bug on TaneTane island at the entrance to a cave. Definitly fix the spelling, you morin!

kevinchai said on Jun. 5, 2009

I totally thought it was intentional, as like a dialect thing or something. You better fix it!

Anthony V. said on Jun. 5, 2009

Who knows, it may become the next “Spoony Bard”.

Mato said on Jun. 5, 2009

kevinchai: it WAS semi-intentional, it’s just that a lot of people didn’t catch it or thought I was a moron for spelling it wrong :P

rayefrenzy said on Jun. 5, 2009

i saw it. but i just laughed. i love typos. You should probably fix it though

also: what added stuff is there? I remember being a hard mode, and holding down select before going into the status screen, and some other stuff that i forget. But it seems all the add-ons you put in are scattered throughout the blog and i can’t find ‘em.

Hejiru said on Jun. 5, 2009

Meh, not a biggie.

Covarr said on Jun. 5, 2009

This seems like a rather morinic mistake.

Yoyoenix91 said on Jun. 5, 2009

Change it to ‘maroon’. xD

Devin said on Jun. 5, 2009

I’d spell it “moran” like this picture: http://media.urbandictionary.com/image/large/moran-7512.jpg

DragonKazooie89 said on Jun. 5, 2009

Did those infinite loops and the unneeded “The”s get taken care of?

Doctor Icarus said on Jun. 5, 2009

I did notice that if an enemy uses PK Flash on you and it fails, it agains says “It didn’t work on the Kumatora!”

Another typo I did notice: In one of the chapter-end sequences, it says that Lucas has grown up to be a strong “sun” instead of son.

Hope these help.

DiamondizedLucas said on Jun. 5, 2009

I say change it, along with some other bugs (In Aeolia Dissapearing, Ionia spoke her lines…I think that’s right…It was shown in a Playthrough)

Mato said on Jun. 5, 2009

doctor icarus: it’s supposed to be “sun”.

tiradefaction said on Jun. 5, 2009

I say fix it, while “morin” is kind of funny, I think I’d still prefer “moron”.

Just my two cents..

Ice Sage said on Jun. 5, 2009

Yeah i noticed what DiamondizedLucas did as well. Ionia said all of Aeolia’s lines during her disappearance. Aeolia’s mouth was moving, but the text boxes had Ionia’s name. It actually got a bit distracting, to me anyway…

And I thought Mato said a while ago that the “the” mistakes in battles couldn’t be totally fixed.

Zaxtur said on Jun. 5, 2009

Definitely fix it. Not very many people get it. And a joke that has to be explained can’t be a very good joke.

carbon said on Jun. 5, 2009

noooo! it’s the best line ever! I love that line ;____;

KaziRede said on Jun. 5, 2009

I never really noticed that XD wow.

PK Mt. Fuji said on Jun. 5, 2009

I frogive you Mato.

Teddy said on Jun. 5, 2009

when you first eat the magic mushrooms, it refers to the players as “Lucas and his party” no matter whet you named your characters.

…everybody seems to be pointing out your mistakes anyways. :p

we love you Mato.

Tansunn said on Jun. 5, 2009

I vote fix it. It’s not really funny the way it is, and it’s more confusing than anything. If I hadn’t read about it, I would’ve thought it was a translator error rather than a character quirk.

zedrein said on Jun. 5, 2009

Wow, I didn’t think that this was such an amateur localization.

kevinchai said on Jun. 5, 2009

@zedrein
We don’t need that kind of negativity here. Even as a professional translator, Tomato’s only human, and the big companies mess up stuff like this all the time.

Zaxtur said on Jun. 5, 2009

@zedrein
Thanks for being rude. Too bad it’s not as good as YOUR localization.

Mato said on Jun. 6, 2009

OK, judging from the numbers, I shall fix it. I’m not attached to the line or anything, so I’m fine with fixing it up.

And before this turns into a lame trollathon, I’ll close this. It’s served its purpose anyway ;)
