A few weeks ago, someone gave a really good old-timey piano player sheet music for Humoresque of a Little Dog, the EarthBound store music. Here’s the guy playing it for the very first time. It sounds really cool
Also, because it was his first time ever seeing the music, the first time through is a little slower.
Thanks to Pishi for the tip! You can download an MP3 version of this here, thanks to Deej

first time playing it? HOLY GUACAMOLE. That’s impressive.
I used to be pretty good at playing the piano after seven years of practice, but I was never THAT good. WOW.
Cool vid. Also, just noticed the Summers theme up on the site banner thing. Much better than last month’s stuff. Awesome job Mato!

“There’s this F-minor part in the middle…”
You messed up the Fourside melody! *grief* We KNOW this music!!
Seriously though, the fact it sounded so good even when he was just sightreading the piece is really amazing. Also, props to the person who arranged the piece in the first place; very nice rendition.
Here’s the MP3, ripped by moi.
It’ll stay active for a week so you might wanna grab it and do as you’d like with it.

Makes me cum. Now it is E3.
I wanna learn how to play this so bad! Could you give a link to the sheet music?
Oh, this is probably a little late but I ripped it and have no idea how to post it.

Awesome! This is one of my favorite Mother songs.
Also, I like the new theme. Summers. It’s summer. Har har har.
I love it! Great idea of getting a professional player to play video games music he never heard of.

Wow. Is there sheet music? That’s pretty good. I used to do electronic keyboard for two years, but gave up shortly after the viola and flute. Now I use GarageBand.
I love it when musicians take off and do their own thing while still staying within the bounds of a song. It makes for such fun music.

Well, aren’t you going to give us a link to the sheet music?
wow that is AMAZING for playing it first time around and never seeing the sheet music in your life! dang. i’m awed lol
I found the score sheet that Tom was given to sight-read! It’s right here: http://users.sfo.com/~keeper/music/hoald.pdf
And by the way, I started playing the piano in 2004. That may seem like a lot of time, but it takes decades for you to sight-read that well!
Was anyone else more impressed by that beard?
That’s a MAN’S beard.
I’m so envious of people playing god like. I can’t do anything with my left hand , so playing any instrument is basically a no no. Bwaaaaaaaaah!! TT_TT
@wants_latios_lots
I am very impressed by his beard, but first place still goes to the music! Amazing, Simply Amazing…
Man, I wish I was that good at piano. First time seeing it? It’d take me a couple months of practice before I was playing it that well. Very impressive.
That’s Tom Brier Btw, if anyone was wondering who exactly that is. He has other youtube videos. He’s really good with Ragtime and people often offer him up video game music. I’ve seen him play K.K. Ragtime (Animal Crossing) and the Overworld theme from Mario Bros. 2.
very impressive for a first time. I think the few mess ups should be forgiven. nobody should expect perfection on a fist run through.

Hehe, that was fantastic. That made me giggle.
The bearded pianist is a rag time player named Tom Brier. He has an album on iTunes if you’re interested.
*ragtime (or see him play some of his other pieces here: http://www.youtube.com/user/Keeper1st)

AMAZING!!!!
All I could focus on was the fact that he was wearing either boxers or short-shorts.
Keiichi Suzuki, Hirokazu Tanaka and Shigesato Itoi would be very very very proud if they see this. Someone send this to them!
am I the only one who thinks that this belongs in a saloon? the piano version at least
