May 21st, 2009 | Audio Stuff, MOTHER 1
Many fans know all about the various official MOTHER 1, 2, and 3 soundtracks, but MOTHER series music has also appeared on other CDs.
One such CD was the Famicom Best Music Selection, released in the early 90s. One of the songs included was this remix of Eight Melodies, which not people know about. It’s pretty weird and has a sound that definitely has that feel of 90s Japanese “trying too hard to be cool” music. Which I also associate with late 80s/early 90s American music
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
I think there was another MOTHER 1 song on this CD, I’ll post it another day though.

67 Comments to Very Odd Eight Melodies Remix
I actually had this remix already… there’s some weird lyrics towards 2:30 that sounds very odd indeed, especially if you try to figure out what they’re saying.

Is it bad to like it? It’s so corny and upbeat it’s good!

I like it, there are some interesting parts.
Reminded me of Mario Paint! XD It was pretty cool, yet very odd.. though that’s to be expected when it comes to EarthBound.

Woah! Don’t copy that floppy!
Err…
Melody! Don’t copy that melody!
The sound effects don’t even fit the Eight Melodies tune at all. Everything seems so out of place.
LOLOL I keep expecting Will Smith to jump in with the lyrics to “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”

This song thrust me back to 1992, what the hell.
That is the most amusing eight melodies I have ever heard. I like it.
I agree with LucasTizma. Ninten must be Will Smith in disguise.
As nauseating as that sounds, it’s kinda neat in its own way. Still, good lord…

*shudder* Oh, the early 90s… I must say, one of the worst times for music in general. This song is hilariously good though.
Well, the 90s weren’t that bad because it did give us grunge music…
Half of me’s laughing, and the other half of me is crying after listening to this.
Y’all this is a story, all about how,
my life got flipped, turned upside down, and i’d like to take a minute,
just sit right there, I’ll tell you how I became to be known as the prince of a town called Bel-Air.
All from memory, ain’t I good?
Anyways, what was I gonna say? Oh yeah, I don’t like that remix. At all.
Yo ho, smell ya later!
I was expecting Vanilla Ice or Will Smith to start singing throughout the whole thing.
I like it.
hello to anyone who is reading this. when i went to tomatos site i found the music to the barren factory. when checking the soundplayer, it is not there!!! i am wondering if there are any other songs not on the sound player???

It feels like I’m back to the 90s ! I really enjoy those kind of songs.
“People who are pro-euthanasia are Nazis”
Or something like that. I can’t understand the random quote they threw in there at 2:40.
Just out of curiosity. I didn’t reach Mt. Itoi yet in EB0, so I never got to the part where Ana asks Ninten if he loves her. I already know what happens when you say yes, but what happens if you say no?

Am I the only one that thought it wasn’t bad.
haha, i guess this is what it sounds like if ninten ever ate the magic cake!

DDR, anyone?
Now this is a story all about how my life got D-Slipped upside down and I’d like to take a minute just sit you right there tell you how I slayed Geigue on Mt Itoi
Woah, this song is all over the place and off the walls. And I kinda like it XD Especially at 2:03 but maybe that’s because that’s the most normal part of it
I’m sorry, but… How is this bad? Yes, they tried to shoehorn Eight Melodies into a late-80s-early-90s peice of musical… Strangeness, but if you ask me, that’s why it’s sobrilliant! I dunno about you, but i’m going to enjoy this glorious musical Ham & Cheese sandwich.
Unfortunately, I have the need to collect every MOTHER song I come across, even crap like this…
It’s funny and kinda cool in a weird strange way.. but I don’t think I could find myself listening to it again in the future.
at first i didnt like it but then i heard 8 melodes and loved it but what was the glass breaking for this song is happy
I believe this is just a happy version of the Eight Melodies. Try picture Ninten beating Giegue and this plays. Without those weird noises from 2:20. I don’t know why lots of people hate it. I know the Eight Melodies is an emotional song, but these people are just adding happiness and bounciness into the song.
Sorry with my last comment, I ment, Try picture Ninten walking home AFTER beating Giegue and this plays. Sorry everyone who got confused.
I think the low pitched voice is supposed to be Giygas… lmfao… funny remix… but I’m going to download it anyways… hahaha….
Not so bad not that it feels like eight melodies.
This is more upbeat than simply soothing and to be honest, this makes me giggle in some parts. Strange indeed.

Lmao, I can imagine the Fresh Prince of Bel Air dancing to this.
I can see it now…
Some cheesy music video of nothing but people in striped shirts and baseball caps dancing ![]()
Not that I wouldn’t somehow like it, heheh.
