I thought that for sure there was going to be a MOTHER 4 because when you beat MOTHER 3 the screen says “END?” it says end with a question mark! I think the 4th one should be for the DSi and the main character would be Sid like Ness and SNES. Sid sounds like a good name too doesn’t it? There should be new pk moves like dark, aura, light, surf, earth, and others.

Altough this has nothing to do with Mother 4 but have you heard of a fan fic called “Ultima the Crossing of the Universes”? well Ness and Lucas are in it with other characters from various cartoons,video games and movies. itoi stinks.i dont have 1 mother game but im dying to get 3.i think that earthboundcentral.com and all of us should make mother 4 where lucas ness ninten are on a team with rika from higurashi.we start off with rika and then porkey somehow finds here and sends here to ninten.they team up with ana for a little bit but then they find ness.but lets make the game challenging and LONG it is more fun if its long.

You could get MOTHER 3 on your computer if you’re dying to get it. Don’t torture yourself if you want it that bad. And if MOTHER 4 picks up around the same time as 3, then Ness and Ninten and everyone from MOTHER 1 and 2 except Porky and Dr. Andonuts (is that how you spell it) would be dead.

M3′s composer did an extremely good job. He captured the spirit of the original Mother games, which he didn’t compose music for.
So if a different composer is able to accomplish that, I think a different game designer might also.
But I still have hope that Itoi will eventually get to making a new Mother game. Itoi gives me the impression that working on M3 was intense and tiresome; it’s only logical to reply with a firm no when posed with such a question just after M3 was done…

At Least It wont be a drawn out series like Mega Man and Final Fantasy. And maybe there will be a video game besides MOTHER. He did make a fishing game after he finished the first MOTHER game. You know I’ve been wondering for a long time the look on Itoi’s face looks suspicious to me at 0:02. What could he be up to?

Anyway Itoi’s mother games were great. It had funny, heartwarming, creativity in all the games. Even if the series is over I’ll try to get as much information as possible on Mother 4.

I’ve already been working on MOTHER 4 for a while!
So far, it’s gonna include all the MOTHER 3 characters
(Lucas, Kumatora, Duster, Boney, Flint, Salsa) With
the addition of two new characters. The game takes place after the final needle gets pulled in M3. This
game is actually more like EB because there are several towns(referred to as towns in EB until i can think of some cool names). It’s gonna be on DS too! sadly, all
of my ideas remain on paper ’cause i don’t know how to make my own games… But one day i may ask for lots of people with good technical skills to help me
get the game started. I’m planning for the game to be very long for those of you who thought Mother3 was too short. And out of the two new characters, one of them will be able to use PSI! She’s more like a combination of Paula and Jeff because she’s very smart and can fix small machines like Jeff and like paula in that she’s actually the equivalant to Ness’s Paula and Ninten’s Ana. Yup, that’s right.
She’s Lucas’s girlfriend(since he was severely lacking one in M3) The other character…
well all i’ll say is that by looking at my user name, you can probably guess what it’s gonna be.
(He may not be able to use PSI though, I’m barely
just getting trough the first few parts of the game so PSI will be one of the last things i work on)
Even though I say that, I’ve got The ‘New Girl’s’ PSI completely finished. (I just need animations because her PSI is PK Beam and alot of other PSI’s from the original EB0) I’m planning for the game to have a party member system like Chrono Trigger, in which once you get over four party members, you’ll be able to configure your party to you liking.
As you can see, I’ve got the game pretty thought out, but i still need to actually get the game to a playable state. First, I’m gonna finish the story and THEN I’ll ask for technical help.

giugas revived version 1:chrono trigger crossover-lavos goes back in time and brings giugas (from mother,not mother 2)to the present and crono,lucca,marle,frog and others notice lavos gone and go to the present too.this starts the adventures of -insert hero here- who gets a vision of giugas and lavos(blurred up)destroying earth.helpers could be chono t characthers.and maybe even ninten or ness could team up and help couse time travel.
giugas revival 2(no crossovers):the final needle is pulled but other than the events of mother 3 something else was released,giugas is deafeatedand has dissapeared for eternity but far away in a distant galaxy giugas race detect a outburst of power(from the needles)on earth their new leader-insert badass name here- is after the needles to steal their hidden powers:fire ice earth(ground,not the world)water air light and darkness (light being last couse it stops farkness from unleashing its full power)
the race (giugas race) leader possesing 6 nedlees
summons guigas (also from mother not mother 2) but using the light needle you beat the leader and then giugas. well these are my ideas for the future. crossovers are great but i only have 2 stories which i came up with.

Im going to (try) to make a 3d game called Mother Heros. Ninten, Ness, and Lucas will be in it, warped back in time to their 12 yr old selves. Also, a choosable 4th character can be chosen of Ana, Loid, Teddy, Paula, Jeff, Poo, Duster, Kumatora, Clause, and Boney. Why Clause? Because Lucas gets a wish, and it is that his mom is alive (YAH!) and also Claus (FIINALLY). The story is that Giygas apparently had a son (I’ll make up a name later), and he screws up Picky Minch’s mind (also young like Ninten, Ness), and he becomes evil! All the games’ worlds will be 3d and present, and there will be a new battle system!

i have a good story for mother 4. Dr andounuts finds Claus in the new earth (because of the Dragon) dr andounuts rebuilds Claus so hes even more half robot then he gives you your mask and yay your playing as the Masked Man you can shoot thunderbolts at enemies
and run away before they revive. you can also fly (like PK teleport) and theres 14 chapters oh and at below chapter three you hear sounds like “Claus s-save me please.” in 3 chapter you find lucas tied up in a cave! the work of none other than (porkey style music)Ray! Porkeys best friend from the past. when the new earth was made kindhearted peaple will have the miracle of life Ray was saved but, then he turned EVIL!!! and we make a little more detail and MOTHER 4

Why do people [still] expect him to make a MOTHER 4?

Hell, after spending 12-13 years trying to bring the story of MOTHER 3 outside of its development hell, wouldn’t you think he’d likely not want to make another MOTHER game? Honestly, if he’s done with ise series that’s his choice. He said that a MOTHER 4 was already “out of the question” far before we got the GBA version. He even just stated recently that he’s done with video games for good. I definitely wouldn’t blame him. He’s had a wonderful run, and he should get all the respect he deserves.

Now trying to bring MOTHER 1 & 3 to the western hemisphere, on the other hand…

Listen, Mother is finished. He said so himself. It was a very good series while it lasted, but evn for me, 3 is enough. I would love if they made a fourth, but he has given us something that many other developers never even attempt–closure. He straight told us there would be no more. Now we don’t have to wonder. Chaisu productions is making a mother 4 with all new characters and settings (and obviously, plot). I won’t spoil any big things but the two main characters are a young boy named Chase an his hardworking older brother named Zack. They haven’t finished, but on their website (sorry, I don’t have a link)you can see their progress and fan stuff. they will announce when it comes out when they’re near finished. If any info is wrong,(highly doubt it), then sorry.

I would really love another Mother. But the Mother 3 didn’t give a clue for next mother and it really didn’t have a villain that ended didn’t end up dying (except for Pokey but he’s trapped forever so he doesn’t count). So There might not be another one.

Frankly, the ending of Mother 3 was such that it would be pretty hard to make a direct sequel. If there was a M4, then it would be a prequel.

Frankly, I think that no sequel is sometimes better. Every story must end somewhere. There’s nothing worse than a story which doesn’t get a proper ending because everyone were unwilling to give it one.

A personal story. I’ve once partaken in a collaborative comic drawing project on a forum. Each person made a comic page, then another person made another one, etc. We had great fun, and told a story about heroes uniting to fight a villain. After many, many posts everything seemed wrapped up. The bad guy has been defeated by the heroes’ sly plan, all other problems have been dealt with…

…And then some oaf of a forumgoer decided “No, I want it to go on!” and introduced some cool new villain who was so much stronger than everyone else and unleashed his own wave of tyranny. Obviously the author hoped that this new villain would lengthen the story for another epic amount of posts, but instead everyone got all bored and left the project and the comic never got a proper ending.

I agree with JudgeDeadd, sometimes series are better off without a sequel. Of course, the sequels for Mother 1 were all awesome.

But, whatever. Itoi might change his mind sometime in the future, or maybe he might make an entirely new series altogether. Who knows?

I like trilogies. I’ve seen through history trilogies get ruined if you make another story. so I’m glad he cuts it at 3. but I’d love to play what ever fan made mother 4, just to see how good a fan made game could be. and even if it turns out horrible it won’t effect my view on the trilogy because it’s a fan made game.

like those fan made star wars movies. they were not up to par… but not so horrible to ruin the trilogy. but I could no longer say I loved star wars after I saw episode one. (I still refuse to watch episode 2 and 3) if only I could go back in time and stop myself from watching episode one. I’d still be able to enjoy the trilogy I used to love.

@Mato: THANK YOU. I wish there was a way to filter out all the immature children who just whine and gripe about EB. Like I’ve said elsewhere, we are relatively lucky to have a series with such a strong following, especially in Japan. Even if the games are through, I bet they’ll be releasing compilations and additional merchandise for many, many years to come, which is much more than you can say about some video games series.

So kids: stop whining, be thankful for what MOTHER/EarthBound stuff is around, and please, use a spelling/grammar checker or an adult when posting to the Internet. Sheesh…

Earthbound became my drug.
Since the very very beginning of the game, when I played it, I felt under its charm.
Now that I learned that there will not be another Mother, I feel very sad. There’s no game like Earthbound. It’s Unique.
Hell, I feel so sad. I don’t want to lose hope, but I think that there’s no hope, awfully.

Well it might come out but from this point, but Itoi will probably work on something different or just quit the project altogether.

Itoi didn’t say he wouldn’t make a Mother -1, or 1/2, or 1.54753. So i’m pretty much going to sit around and put my meaningless life on hold until all 3 of those come out.
